Seriously, I don't know why, but those bright colors just catch my eye. Like G2 all over again. The SDCC set is nice, but a little dull looking to me now.

Check out TJ Duckett's beauty pics of the neon ones:

Especially that blue Blast-Off! I LOVE those colors on him!

Now, I know most people much prefer the SDCC set colors and that's fine, but am I alone in my bizarre preference for the day-glo ones?

    Bueller? Bueller?

Don't worry bro I'm with you. We seem to be in the minority. But I dig blue blast off and red vortex. It syncs the set together as a color coded retro combiner team.

At first I didn't like them. But I may get them for their individual bot modes. I just don't like the look in combined mode. the color just looks off in that mode. And the combiner in general, while looking to be better then the PCC stuff, still looks odd to me.

It seems Bruticus' left arm in that combined picture has an open hand.

    That's awesome.

Oh, and TJ's pics convinced me too.

I don't dislike the colours, bright yellow Swindle and purple Blast-Off especially tickle me, but I will deffinately be springing for the SDCC release.

For me, I just don't get the decision. The SDCC set doesn't seem so much as a "premium" deco as just the "correct" one, as in it's not full of more/better paint apps or anything, it's just using the in-game colors versus other colors.

I do like the G2 homage, but I don't like that it's not a FULL G2 homage - where's the yellow Onslaught? I think I'd have rathered game-accurate get general release and a purposefully G2-accurate (or Ruination, Battle Gaia, etc) for SDCC.

I'll likely shell out for the SDCC unless it's totally insane, and I might get the regular ones too, if for no other reason than to go with my Classics G2 collection.

The molds were "Ok, not my favorite but liveable to get an official combiner" when they were in game colors.

Neon colors make the whole a HUGE wasted opportunity and a giant pass.

Edit: I grew up with G1 - G2 was huge WTF? period for me (admittedly after I was done with toys) only for that to keep going with the even bigger WTF?? of Beastwars.

Good grief. It's an Energon Bruticus homage, NOT G2 Bruticus.

This is a real poll with real options. I could actually vote in this one.

    Yyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeessssssssssss?

EDIT/ Oh I see it now - your poll thread. Based on it's title I'd thought yours was more a discussion on Hasbro's decision and availability, but I just now opened it up and see that your poll choices are similar. Ah well?

I know, I've got both the G2 and Energon Bruticus's (Bruticii?). But I feel like the sheer eye-scortchingness of this FOC one puts it more in G2 territory than Energon, designed or not.

Looking at TJs pic again, I have to wonder what the actual retail figs are going to look like.

Hasbro is STILL showing the handpainted figs and there is no way they are going to be as bright as that paint makes them.

So will we get bright and quirkily yet endearingly garish or just dull in weird colors?

It's not a G2 homage at all, some people are just sorta... thick about that. It's an Energon homage.

If it were a G2 homage, I'd get it. I had a couple G2 Combaticons so it would be a great throwback for me.

If the Energon colors are the mass release colors, I'm not going to bother. Still going to get BLast Off just because he looks awesome, but no one else.

The color choices are not a G2 homage (they are an Energon homage), BUT the eye scorching neon brightness is very reminiscent of G2, hence why I and many people keep calling them G2 colors.

    Color choices = Energon
Brightness/neon of the colors = G2 (albeit unintentionally by Hasbro)

To me the whole set screams G2 because of the brightness.

I prefer neon Onslaught over the correct one, fine with either Brawl and Swindle, like the correct "steampunk" Blast Off, and don't like either Vortex. Both sets are even to me, though I'm probably going with the neon ones since they'll likely be easier/cheaper for me to get.

I think some silver and (glowy?) purple to break up the black and neon areas will work wonders.

I'm a sucker for weird/bright colors. While the SDCC colors are nice, I don't mind the bright colors at all. And I love Blastoff's blue.

Brawn is the one that kills it for me, the other toys manage to get away with it but Brawn is just really bright green. they should have just done Swindle in red instead of Vortex and gone the whole G2 hog.
