Are you going to be able to walk into stores in say December and pick up one of these or are they going to be sold out? I usually get things day 1, but I'm gonna hold off on this and let my wife buy it for me for X-Mas. She always gets pissed cause I get everything right away and don't save any gifts for her to buy me.

The DVD should be on shelves for a bit. I don't foresee it being a complete sell out.

To add on to what Joe said:

Most likely there MIGHT be a big demand in like the first week or 2. But after that not really. DVDs such as this appeal mainly to a niche type of demographic.

The same thing happened over here with the Thundercats DVDs, Initially (like in the 1st week) it sold out quick. But now it's pretty easy depending on where you go to buy 'em

Sorry to go off topic with this question. But 1)what exactly is the difference between Blu-Ray and the standard DVD player? 2)Are Blu-Ray players backwards compatible with standard players and 3)Will I have to replace my present DVD player with a Blu-Ray in the future?

Good point. I already own 2 version of this movie (one is a serious OG bootlegged version) and now will have three. I'm sure whoever wins the HD format war there will be a version of that in a couple years. Especially if the new Movie does well.

Blu-Ray holds waaay more data on a disc then DVD so it is used for HD versions of movies. Yes, Blu-Ray players can play standard DVDs(upconverting them) but hot HD-DVD's as that is a different standard. I imagine that in a year most new DVD players will be able to play all 3 formats. Right now they can only play Blu-Ray and DVD or HD-DVD and standard DVD.

I am in the EXACT same wife boat. I won't wait to buy most items 'cause I'm afraid of another Swerve incident.

So now I pick out vintage items and let her ebay for them, and actually, this new DVD is going to be my stocking stuffer from her. I seriously doubt you'll have a problem getting a copy.

There have been a lot more popular movies released on DVD which have never sold out. You'll find one somewhere.
