Man, after Binaltech and Classics 2.0 these are just flat-out embarrassingly bad.

..and I'm not one to complain about the cost of imports as my wall of BTs will attest to, but $50 for slightly bigger than a deluxe? no thank you.

I was hoping the Alternity line would live up the the BT/Alt standards. Cool paint job, and I like the head sculpt, but I'll have to pass on these.

These are a let-down. And the quality of a lot of Takara/Tomy stuff I've gotten recently has been poor. Bad paint, loose joints, etc. I think Tomy's ruination (pardon the pun) of Takara's legacy of quality is complete.

Argh.... these things are really frustrating.

    Pros:

-different head sculpts (and Cliffjumper's looks great)
    -nice vehicle modes
-great paintjobs (again, primarily on CJ)
-would sort of fill a gap in Binaltech.... albeit not in vehicle mode, scale-wise

    Cons:

    -godawful design
    -expensive

The pros still outnumber the cons, but that "godawful design" bit is pretty heavily weighted. Sigh..... keep pre-orders or cancel, keep or cancel.....

Don't understand the God awful design bandwagon here. ~shrugs.

I do not give a hoot what the majority of the fandom thinks of these, I love the designs.

I think they are great, and can't wait to get them. I like how Bumblebee looks like an articulated version of his G1 self (i.e. big chest, shoulders slightly back). The hood/skirt thing is very Gundam-like , and it moves freely to allow leg movement. Great !

i find it quite funny how people are saying they are awfully designed without seeing them in person. the design of the leg transformation and the arms look to give good articulation, sure the skirt is a bit annoying as it should have gone round the back but I can't see this being outdone by universe/henkei hot shot

I feel like buying this for my brother. He recently got a suziki swift.. and was a big fan of transformers. As far as I can tell; jolt's alt mode is the exact same model my brother has.

Me thinks jolt would make a great christmas gift

I'm torn - I like the headsculpts, paint jobs and use of die-cast, but the torso design looks flat-out diabolical.

Guess I'll pass for now and see what the line does next.

we can say it's awful on a visual level. I don't see any reason not to form an opinion when we have pictures in front of us.

Obviously there's other aspect that we can't really pass judgement on till we have it in hand, but I didn't see anyone commenting on anything other than the visual appearance.

I don't understand why you would compare it to Hot Shot. Henkei Bumblebee on the other hand quite clearly has a better visual appearance in the bot mode pics on display here.

These babies didn't fly off the shelves at my local Toys R Us like the other Alternities. They are like $46.50 retail in Japan, so hopefully these will be marked down in the near future.

    Bee & Jumper

I was really looking forward to these to fill the gaps in my BT/Alt collection, but I too am very disappointed. I hadn't purchased any Alternity figures yet and thought about pre-ordering both before I saw that they were 1:32 scale instead of 1:24 like BT/Alt. Also, the "delivered" pre-order price seemed a bit steep. I thought I'd wait it out until there were more photos, and I am sooooooo glad I did.

My first thought was "where are the Autobot logos on their chests?" Then I saw them on their extended chins. This design is terrible, especially after seeing the one-off custom kitbashes out there like Dunaway's BT Bumblebee or Wheel Jack's Classics Bumblebee re-shell. The robot modes of both of these eliminate the bloated torso problem of these two Alternity figures.

For my collection, I guess I am going to stick with the Henkei Bumblebee with some minor repaints (especially since the size between the Alternity BB & the Classics/Henkei BB is hardly significant) and for Cliffjumper the k/o A&L Red Smokescreen with a repainted Streak head to give it that "samurai helmet" look.

These two do not look like they are worth $50 each.

I have no problem with the designs. I think the robot mode sizes go along great with the Binaltechs, but I'll wait till they're on sale.

I want to like them, but I just can't :(

Cliffjumper's paint job is awesome, but the thick torso and skinny legs kill it for me. I wish they distributed the mass around differently.

I'm not digging the plumpness and odd look of these guys.

The headsculpts are nice, but everything else leaves so much to be desired...

I'm looking forward to getting these in the mail. I think they make great renditions of Cliffjumper and Bumblebee for my Alt/Binaltech display. I wonder what Alternity will come up with next.
