I've had Mirage sitting in my closet for about year now with plans to turn him into Starscream...one of the rare occasions to make a custom Alt of my own:)

When I started working on my most recent commision (also a Ford GT, to be shown very shortly), I realized the color scheme would be very similar to what I wanted for Starscream as well, and that finally gave me the motivation to work on him.

The head is a heavliy modded Mirage head, with the side vents and upper details built from styrene. I also turned Mirage's scowl into a smirk. Extra holes were drilled into the arms to mount the guns...thought about building some new ones, but I like the original's well enough. Also, I figure if Starscream were to take a car form, his robot mode would still be capable of jet-like flight, so I gave him some thrusters under his feet. Besides those simple mods, everthring else is just straight repaint.

The main color is Tamiya's Light Gunmetal which is very close, if not an exact match, to a factory color for the GT. The larger stripes are clear red over the gunmetal, and the lower stripes are decals printed on clear film to get the same deep metallic red color. The blue is Testor's Arctic Blue Metallic, which has always been one of my favorites.

Finally, here's a few extra pics that I couldn't add below:

Damn, that looks great. I would have never thought of using
the GT mold for Screamer. Hell of a job, paint apps look flawless

Wow. Fantastic stuff, man. Great job on the head and that paint job is ridiculously good.

I haven't been a fan of people doing Alts as seekers but this one really impresses me. Maybe the Ford GT doors as 'wings' seems to fit better than the rest of the alts that people have tried. Maybe the the modded head pulls it all together. I dunno. Kudos, nonetheless!

That's absolutely stunning. The head mod is spot on, and the paintwork's gorgeous. I think I can safely say this is my favourite Alt Screamer so far. Any plans to do Skywarp and Thundercracker to join him? You know you want to... ;)

My first reaction in pretty much jaw-dropping! Great work. Super clean! I reall think the colors you used all work nicely together and the head is fantastic. Love the added feet boosters too

Jarrod, this piece looks great :thumb  I love the silver color as well as the head (that's awesome in itself). I'm not too keen on the red sports stripe, but aside from that everything just fits.

    Again, VERY nice man :thumb

Thanks for all the great comments everyones, this is definitely one of my favorite customs. The colors came out better than I'd hoped, and it totally feels like Starscream to me.

Nah...I'm really ok with just Starscream actually.

If you don't like the red stripes, then you should really check out the next GT I'll be posting...the same gunmetal with silver stripes:)

FWIW, the head is my absolute favorite part of this custom. I was honestly surprised at just how perfect of a Starscream head it ended up being.

Awesome! Yeah, I prefer factory paint decos for Alts, especially the expensive make/models that would rarely sport a custom deco. :)

No surprise to me because your work always rocks :thumb

I must say... WOW! I will be trying to get into customizing alts soon, and I can only hope that my work will look this good.

Awesome, that is really good. That may well be one of my favourite customs I've ever seen on this board, it's original, it's done so well, and it just works. Very impressed.
