Space Nugget mode engaged... The long process of taking an alternate mode begins...(this is the stuff that happens off-camera kiddies...)
The blue covered the red completely... In all honesty, I've never used a primer with any of my customs. Krylon Fusion is the way to go!
all paint chips of course, but by comparison, the answer would be no. just make sure you put a clearcoat on after you're done painting. Best tip I have is that before painting something, move the joints around, TF it, check for parts that rub already, and make notes. then go through and slightly sand down the spots that rub to make room for the thickness that the paint and clearcoat will add to them to prevent them from rubbing or rubbing worse, use a high count sandpaper so that it'll stay smooth. trust me, its well worth the extra bit of time involved!!
What Redline says is correct...always try to sand down the parts that rub. It won't look pretty at first, but it'll look a lot better once the paint is on. I personally don't clear coat any of the stuff I do, and I fiddle around with them all the time, and so far, chipping is the least of my worries. Another thing that you can do, if possible, is to dye pieces before you paint them. For example, on my Alternators Armada Megatron custom, a lot of the joints are purple. But, before I painted them purple, I dyed them purple...that way it doesn't look so bad if it scratches or chips.
I was thinking about doing the dye idea for a custom, but the original is black so I figured the dye wouldn't work. Heh And another fusion Q. How does the satin paint turn out? One of the colors I want to use is only in satin and I don't want it to look odd.
Nope. If its black, your stuck with black. You might be able to make it a darker shade of "black," but you'll ultimately have to paint it if you want to change it to a different color. What toy are you working with? Maybe I can help.
Thats not too bad of a mold to work with. At least you don't have to deal with the roof, which is one of the larger pieces you'd have to paint. What or who are you turning it into? What colors are you working with?
It's a new custom but I'm using light colors. Almond, tans, sand colors. That's why I was curious on the Fusion Interior/Exterior and Satin paints. There is a light tan/almond color I want for the car body but it doesn't come in standard Fusion colors. It's either satin or the interior/exterior paint. I'm not sure how the satin looks and definately not sure if the interior/exterior will adhere to plastic
