Seeing that we got a slight flurry of Alt news in the last few weeks I thought it would be interesting predict what's coming up on the line.

The line, up to Alternator #24 is this so far:

Alt #21- Dodge Ram Optimus Prime
    Alt #22- Mirage?
    Alt #23- Acura RSX Camshaft
Alt #24- Dodge Ram Nemesis Prime

I don't think Mirage has been officially confirmed to be #22 but it's highly likely that he is based on the news we've received.

That leaves out Rumble. I'm going to guess he'll be 25 or 26 because that follows the new mold/repaint pattern. I'm also thinking that the Mirage/Optimus/Meister/Tracks case should be released soon. Afterall, Nemesis Prime is getting released in late July at Comic-con.

What I'm wondering is when Camshaft is getting released. And what are we getting after Nemesis Prime and Rumble. Camshaft hasn't appeared in any case listings and its already June.

I was thinking a Skids repaint would follow after Nemesis Prime and somewhere before or after Rumble but then I remembered that a Ford Mustang mold is getting released too. We're not sure if its a re-release of Grimlock or Wheeljack or a new repaint.

Either way, it seems that Hasbro is even slowing down on the repaints and instead opting at doing re-releases. Otherwise we would have been getting a second repaint of the RX-8 mold instead of a Meister re-release.

I don't know. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking the line is trickling to an uneventful end....I really do. It's not as popular as it once was which is apparent by how few topics are started about them anymore. I just have a weird feeling that they are coming to an end relatively soon :(

It may be a case of them using design resources for the movie, and the inevitable large retail push that will result from it.......

aside from that, they're starting to get a little short on 'Big name' characters to use for Alts.

Annother repaint of the RX8 isn't too unlikely, Mazda are probably going to be making it for a long time to come, with minor aestheitc changes if any. I'm *guessing* Late July/ Early August for Camshaft.

Not sure what's happening with the Mustang repaint - the presence of a Mustang Police car in the movie makes me think they've moved it to that...... but since the rumors are that the movie Decepticons are rather 'Alien' looking i'm not so sure. Perhaps 'Brawl' will be an exception to this rule.

Rumble, I'm guessing is due early Fall.

I wish we knew what the next new mold is after that.

As for the Scion - i'm not going there, it will turn into annother Perceptor VS Ironhide thing.

    And here's something for those of you who are going to start predicting that the line is once again doomed;

All I want now is a new Ironhide/Ratchet mold that's a fair homage to G1, maybe a Bumblebee/Cliffjumper mold, maybe Brawn (could work as a remold of Rumble... Just remove the fake tape chest and make it like G1 Brawn's yellow chest) and for the black Ram to be released as Trailbreaker. Oh, and these will be released as BTs too.

After that we're done, the line can end and I'll be happy...

Then of course we'll see the Megs we saw on that "maybe real/maybe fake" color guide... and he'll be a Masterpiece anyway. :rock

Do dreams come true? Ha ha.

After Rumble, I'd like to see a phase-in of military vehicles and a phase-out of cars. That leaves us with 25 Alternators, a nice round number.

I'm think we're done getting remolds and every figure is just going to get a straight repaint like Nemesis Prime and Camshaft.

    And that blows.

Hmmm... I see the line merging or converging with the Classics line into a single movie-oriented line. As we all know, the movie is going to feature licensed vehicles like our beloved Binaltech and Alternators line.

I think the line will continue with repaints and re-releases of older figures to sustain it enough until the movie is released where it will be combined with the movie. I'd love to see 1:24, 1:48 and 1:72 versions of the characters from the movie, and I think to the die-hard collectors and fans they would sell as well as the more "kid" oriented figures.

Personally, I love the whole Alternators and Binaltech line. Binaltech is pretty much dead and I doubt any more BT releases unless they "economize" the line and switch to all plastic. The die cast metal is nice, but expensive.

what was the alt count announced last year??

4 new and 6 repaints??(please correct me if im wrong)

new: prime, mirage, rumble, and i'm gonna say skidz

repaints: rico, rollz, streaker, nemesis, camstreak, & 1 TBD

i counted skidz since i counted streaker. yes even tho they came out late last year. dont want to get my hopes up. based on bubble package theory.

im gonna go w/ the 'stang repaint. and then to fill out the rest of the assortments this year, we'll get rereleases in bubble packing.

I sure hope we get some rereleases of earlier figures, since some of the earlier Alts that haven't been re-released have premium prices on eBay. I stumbled across an OOB Smokescreen and Windcharger via an auction an I grabbed them up.

IMO I think Hasbro will want to differentiate between the lines and the level of complexity between them. Alternators are way too complicated for the kids that Hasbro aims their mainline at. If they combined the lines, they'd have to dumb down the Alt transformations to the point where it's just the mainline, but with licensed vehicle modes. I'd hesitate to call that Alternators, regardless of if they expand to military vehicles.

I predict a massive takeover by decepticons leading to Decepticon characters getting first character choice in molds with autobots being the repaints.

    one can only hope.

    I like how you think!:D

But, on the other hand, I forsee the ratio of Autobots to Decepticons will be even greater than before...:redface2:

From what we're seeing, the Binaltech line is pretty much dead and Alternators is barely alive.

What I meant by my statement is with the licensed vehicles being used from the Alternators line and moved forward with similar toys but related to the movie. I, for one, would be willing to pay for 1:24 and other scales, for movie related characters as well as the more common, smaller, toys. I'd make space for a 1970s Camaro 1:24 Bumblebee on my limited shelf space.

We've seen some "mini-Alternators" in the Cybertron line with the almost 1:24 scale Lugnutz and the two very awesome Crosswise and Downshift characters. What I mean by the merging is we may see items aimed at kids, and the adults who are Transformers obsessed, maybe not as Alternators but an extension of the Masterpiece line .

If you look at the long-standing franchises, like Star Wars, there are "toys" aimed both at the new young children and their parents who watched episodes four through six in the movie theatres in the '70s. Some of the adult related collectibles aren't cheap.

Although nowhere near as old or accepted of a "franchise," there is no denying there are many 22 to 30 year old men and women who grew up loving the G1 cartoons. We know most of us here will undeniably see the live-action movie, and I for one hopes it is successful enough for a decent sequel.

As for the Alternators it is sadly breathing its last breath. Many of us would love to see it continue but for it to do that there needs to be some new blood injected into the line. I will give it credit for lasting as long as it has since late 2003. There are so many additional vehicles that I'd love to see in the line, and many of them are not the typical sports cars we've been seeing.

I like the Alts--I pick on the molds I'm not fond of, true, but it's a good line overall.

Still, after almost three years they just don't have the same impact anymore. Most of the cars I like have been done. I'd like to see it continue, but if it has to go, it was a good run, and a good line.
