My question for everyone, is do you think Alternators and Masterpiece Transformers are not for playing with, or is it just that you have to be very careful when you transform them? I only want your opinion, this is not an open invite for people to flame each other over who's right.

Alternators can be played with, but are really meant for people older than 10. Masterpieces can be played with if you have the money/stupidity.

    define playing?

    i'm a adult fan,so I don't do any role playing,no smashing fight matches.

My defination of playing, from a adult collector point of view. is transforming the toys a few times. then adding the toy to my display shelves.

For Alternators, fiddled with, yes you can. Some are fun/easy to transform wich make them great to "play" with, other are more annoying making them more of display material.

Same with Masterpieces, some like the Seekers and Grimlock are easy and quick to transform wich make them fun to have around.

Sure you can, but just need to know the limits of playing with a figure from those lines.

From my experience, alternators are fragile (like Camshaft and Prowl's rear view mirrors). They also have rubber tires and chrome, so it is best not to be too rough on them. They make among the best display pieces, robot or alt.

Define playing. For floor wars as a kid, they'd not be much fun. They take way too long to transform.

He's not fun to play with either.

To me, that's what made G1 great and is why it's still great to this day. Quick easy transformations for making playing fun.

I broke off a side mirror on my Binaltech Prowl one day & after many, many expletives (and a good ie. expensive bonding agent), he's as good as new. I totally agree with you in that Alts/Binaltech/Alternity/MPs should be handled with care & most definitely not treated like other cheaper TFs. Mine are on display in botmode & they'll probably remain like that for the foreseeable future.

    I agree totally.

On topic to the OP, I think Alternators can be played with no problem. Same for Masterpiece Prime and Grimlock, but the Decepticons, not really.

agreed, huge battles were fun, since if it took you half an hour to transform, it was because you had a lot of bots

i fiddle with them toys sometimes because i love the challenge and the end result, whether bot or alt mode, is gratifying. but alts/mps are not for kiddies. unless cash is not an issue and you don't mind them being broken/warped in less than a week.

I don't see why Alts shouldn't be played with. They're only slightly more dificult to transform than other TFs. Masterpieces are more fragile so caution should be used of course.

I don't own many alternators or MP's, but the alternator's I do have (Smokescreen and Sideswipe) they aren't so bad.

Out of the MP's, Grimlock is a blast to transform, very simple, fun to mess around with (I keep him on my computer desk to tinker with often) but Skywarp seems to be pretty fragile and I haven't really messed around with him often.

alts are alright, not that playable with though

now masterpieces, out of any transformer i have ever owned, no toy has gotten more play time than masterpiece optimus prime....i'm serious, that thing is the most playable transformer ever, it has been through countless toy battles of mine from when i was a kid, been on roadtrips, and more....that thing is still in one piece minus two inner components of his upper leg breaking and that is the fault of the assholes that are my brothers....got to fix him, he can display perfectly but he just has floppy legs when not standing

Playing as in, smashing them together with pew-pew noises or transforming them, posing them a bit and just fiddling with it?
