Hey guys, I felt that the best candidate to follow Alternators Drifter was this guy. My rationale for this is that Alternators Nitro here was also unplanned as sorts. I had bought a custom red Meister that Sunstorm9119 had for sale at a good price. When I got it, I knew I'd have to touch it up a bit. What started out as a touch-up job turned into a whole project. I wanted to make sure that the red looked really nice on him, so I sanded/painted a bit with some red Testors acrylic. Also, I added the custom head as well. Cybertron Override provided the base head and an Alt Windcharger generously donated his visor (of which I proceeded to paint translucent purple [aka watered down purple]).

. . . and here is the result:

(because I knew I'd be asked) a comparison photo with BT red Meister [as you can see, Nitro sports a considerably brighter shade of red:

I'm always busy with . . . something :)  Getting caught up on homework and being on fall break from school has really helped me get refreshed on some things (and allowed me to take a breather :) ).

Thanks for the props on my paint apps, too! I really wanted to honor the work from the custom I bought, and to properly "touch it up" like it needed, I had to just go in and give Nitro a few nice coats. I'm always really particular with paint apps, especially since paintbrushes can leave a lot of streaks if not treated properly. That being the case, a bit of sanding and additional paint apps were absolutely necessary. I also did want him to be quite different than "ZOOM" (as I've named my red Meister; "Zoom Zoom" just sounds a bit redundant and silly to me), but I also wanted him to be very similar. I may (or may not) end up giving him a stripe of some sort similar to my Alternators Meister. We'll see.

I've always enjoyed the head sculpt from GF Nitro Convoy/Cybertron Override, and Nitro Convoy was one of my favorite characters in GF (I watched GF instead of Cybertron *shurgs*). So the name is a bit of tribute to him, but I wanted to give him a bit of a spin too :)

Again, thanks for the props :thumb

I'm glad you like it! :)

While I wasn't going for the similiarity, I can certainly see the resemblance [after researching your reference *snickers*]. :D

Thanks for your comments guys! I really appreciate it! :D

I don't want to sound redundant, so I'll just say that he could join up with Alt MM anytime ;)

Thanks for the props, 3T! In reference to my painting process, I will lay down a base coat (typically the color, but for more difficult colors I'll use a flat coat of some sort), and then I begin a process of wet sanding the coat/applying top coat. I repeat the process until I have a nice, slick coat. There will always be a remnant of brush strokes, but my goal is always to minimize it as much as possible. Also, while applying a coat, I have my brushes wet and I make sure my coat isn't too thick. :)  In terms of brushstrokes, I always go with the flow of the car (i.e. the roof I will always paint front>back/back>front). This way, the eye flows with the piece once it's finished.

Like I said, the goal is to have a nice, slick coat (as if it were sprayed). Many guys are continually worried about brush strokes as well as wear to pieces and such. One can do all they can, but the fact of the matter is they're not going to last forever; we just do what we can to keep 'em around for as long as we can :)

Also, it's really gratifying when I show someone for the first time one of my pieces and they find out later I used a brush. :ev:

Well, whenever I get around to making my own Alt MM (/*spoiler alert), we'll see Nitro and MM get along. :D

Wow, that works really well! The head seems a tad small, but it definitely doesn't look bad in the least. As others have said, I'm loving that bright red too - any form of variation always helps!

All I can suggest is that maybe you could try giving him his own license plate with his name on it, just for that final touch :D .

TCracker, Autovolt_127, NP, thanks for the props guys! I'm really glad you like him! After I decided on using the head with the body, I was really intent on making it look sleek and just plain evil; I'm glad it translates well :)

I thought the head might be small at first, but it's mostly on part with the rest of the Alts. The fins on the top of his head had to be sanded down actually for it to fit in alt mode correctly! Compared to other Alts/BTs, the head is a bit more slender, but not much. Variety is the spice of life, my wife always says :)

I'll eventually give the customs that are in need of license plates some treatment. I'll have to have a labels party sometime in the future anyways! I've got to finish the labels on my US police cars, replace Wheeljack's labels, and make some license plates. Whenever I get around to making a second Springer, I'll have to make his labels again as well.

Thanks for the comments guys; they're much appreciated! :
