Have you already started painting, or are you waiting for the finished head sculpt to come to you?

I'm not going to wait for the head before I start work on sanding and painting and disassembly, but I am waiting until I get some work done for others first.

I like the first look. Now it looks way too busy.

Too many colors... drop the red highlighting in place dark grey or purple if you're really set on contrasting. That'll get rid of some of that "busy" feel.

Given the last two comments, maybe you can replace the grey on the shoulders with black?

Also gave a few other ideas, take em or leave em of course :D

Still think this is going to turn out cool.

I like the silver detailing on black, good contrast brings out the detail in the shoulder pads. Still think the red in the knees and waist could go. Also like the Purple Elbows... but those are gonna be hard to paint.

I agree on the red it kinda makes it too busy, the head looks very G1 cartoony that you got in the bash and looks sweet btw, maybe switch the red for purple (I like the yellow highlights though)

Look at it from the red on the knees up, it seems to work, but then get down to the yellow and it seems to be off. I tried just removing the yellow, but that didn't sit right either. It doesn't look good with NO paint apps either, I don't think. I also tried adding more black, moving the red and yellow apps around, but nothing felt right. Redline's plan is as good as any I think. The legs on that bot are just very oddly designed parts, hard to get a really good color scheme going.

Redline, go on with what you want to do imo!

well I originally had all that black in there :lol  I took it out on the basis of complaining of another black alternator, and the fact that the original bot had only black for highlights. I don't think it will look nearly as busy it it appears in the digibash, that's been my experience so far. When I did the Black Starscream, he looked pretty busy in the digibash as well, but the actual kitbash doesn't look busy at all. And for the record, I don't think that will be yellows, but golds.

Yeah, totally understood. I was just trying to see what else might work given the complaint of the highlights being too much. I think it's gonna come out cool.

Gold is alright in small quantities and a darker red would work I think.

Wow! Goes to show that I have been very distracted while reading the boards lately! I looked at this thread like three times, and thought the head looked familiar......I obviously need more sleep! I have actually reworked the sculpt for the MM mold. There are more details on the outer "helmet" and he looks more pissed off. I am definitely loving the direction the digibashes are taking with the paint scheme. Let me know if and when you need a head RL. I just started using Smooth-On casting supplies and they definitely give my castings a much cleaner look. The Alumilite stuff was quick, but it came out rather rough right out of the mold, and required a lot of clean up. Keep us posted!

Sculptbot: hell yes I'll need one of those heads. Would you mind snapping off a picture of the redesign?? I'd like to see how its changed.

:lol  easy guys, this'll be my first alternators repaint, so it'll depend on how it goes before I'd decide to do the rest, and as for combining them, I dunno, that's beyond anything I've ever done so far, and the one guy I'd want to consult in doing such a thing passed away recently :(

It's funny, that mold seems to suit Motormaster better than I does Prime.

I like the second colorscheme idea a lot.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this guy turns out.
