I was commissioned to make a Longhaul from an Alternators Optimus Prime, and the only real criteria was that it be modified so that it wasn't just a green OP, and that the head look like the comic version of the character. I hope I've created what was wanted, but I gotta say, it's going to be tough letting this guy go! :)

I modified the front end to have the grill chest, the hood pops off and stores in the folded up cab on his back. I modified the head, removing the antennae and making the eyes a visor. I also swapped the legs around so the bed of the truck becomes the front of his legs, and I also modified the legs like Sodawilly did for his Inferno and Grapple, which reveals more of the thighs without making the legs any longer, as he should be a short-statured 'bot. I painted it with Testors Sublime green, and made decals so that it was a company truck to try to keep it realistic as an Alternator should be.

I coated all the truck parts in future floor finish to make it look waxed and shiny, and the robot parts are all semi-gloss coated. I hope it was worth the wait, I took forever getting this done, and I feel bad for it!

    Love this!!

Any plans on giving him a purple shoulder weapon to match the original's cab?? I think that would be a cool touch.

This looks great, Andy. Love the modifications to match G1 Longhaul's. Was this a recent commission? And how is your Superion coming along?

That modifications are fantastic. I really like how you made him look closer to his G1 form. This has got to be one of the best Alternator customs I've seen. :thumb

Damn this is something I planned on doing for like a year but my paint skills suck. So much for thinking I was the only one who was going to do this custom first...

That is brilliant. You wouldn't guess that it was the same figure as your Motormaster in the comparison pic. Very recognisable as Longhaul too. Great stuff

Well, yours is the opinion that means the most! ;)  I'm happy to hear you like it so much. :D  I'll take truck mode shots later, I work all weekend 12 hr shifts.

Satomi- My Superion is unfortunately in limbo ATM, I can't for the life of me find any 1:100 model kits of an F-22 :cry : I need 2, one to use straight-up, and the other so I can steal parts to make an F-35. I can't believe this jet has been in use for as long as it has (heck, there's TFs made of it!) and hardly any models can be found. I finally found a 1:72 kit just last week, but it's too big for a deluxe.

Roadblaster- I thought for a good long while about that little purple bit on the original, but in the end I decided that I'd deviate too much from either A) the character, or B)I'd force too much into it that I'd actually take away from this Alternators.

I know you're really glad to see this project finally wrapped up! It certainly looks nice! I love the leg details that mirror the G1 version (love the comparison shot as well!)! That comparison shot with him and your [new!] Motormaster is the real money shot, imo :thumb

BTW, could you discuss the labels a bit more in detail?

Sure. I did them up in Photoshop. I first printed these on label paper, but I had nothing but failures in trying to get them clear coated, as the future would make the ink bleed no matter what I tried to do. I ended up using water-slide paper, and Testor's "Decal Bonder" spray. after 2 hrs, you can clear-coat them with anything and the decals are unaffected. I highly recommend this to anyone doing their own labels!

My goal with them was to make this look like a real company truck, seeing as how the color would otherwise be horribly un-realistic for a Dodge SRT-10, and I really wanted to maintain realism seeing as being accurate vehicles was the main focus of the toyline.

You did a great job on making Long-haul as an alternator.
The head you made looks like a more detailed version of G1 Long-haul.
The new owner will very happy with the quality of your work:thumbs2:
