Sorry if this has been covered before but just making sure as I recently started collecting alternators...I really like them! Saw Battle Ravage at Kaybee a couple of years ago and was blown away by the looks of him, and didn't buy him (yes, I'm kicking myself!).

Anyways, I assumed binaltech line was done, but recently been hearing about a Mirage figure that's clear. So wasn't sure if this line was done as well.

While we're on the subject were there any cartoons featuring alternators? Sorry for all the questions...have lots of catching up to do! Thanks.

It is done. Good ridance, it gave us some cool TFs but most were kinda lame.

    Whoa, deja vu.

I have a complete set and they rule every thing's sorry ass (except some of the better movie figures).

Also, there are no comic books or cartoons with Alternators.

Alts and BTs are pretty much finished. The clear Mirage was an e-Hobby exclusive that is now obscenely expensive.

No cartoon, mainly due to the limited licenses granted by the car manufacturers, and the to the lines being done.

I loved the Binals. Die-Cast cars that look good with the Masterpieces.

The Alternators were crap anyway IMO.

Maybe Takaratomy goes on one day. You never know with them

It was a great line, but could have been a PERFECT line if certain characters were made in place of others.

Bad distribution combined with many bad character choices & over repetition of molds is, in my opinion, what ultimately caused the bad sales and subsequent demise of the line.

If they would have injected a few more popular/requested/expected/recognizable characters, added even just 1 or 2 new car models and ensured that the distribution was as good as it is/was for their main lines, I think everyone would be singing a different tune.

Just my personal opinion though - not stating it as gospel fact. :)

Even as a late adopter of alternators. I'm getting quite a nice set and I love every piece hunted. main reasons we won't get more are:

-they shelf warm so stores don't order many this probably tied into the number of repaints the line had because of the shorter run for each figure as a effort to save money over engineering.

-car licenses between hasbro and the manufacturers have expired

So was Grimlock... and Shockwave... and Ricochet... and Rollbar... and Swindle... and Swerve... and Camshaft... and red Jazz/Meister... and yellow Tracks... and Decepticharge...

It's amazing that between turning a Dinobot & various Decepticons into cars as well as pulling new or virtually unknown characters out of thin air, that they didn't manage to make obvious fan favorites like Ironhide, Trailbreaker, Ratchet, Bumblebee or Cliffjumper into official figures for this line.

Gee, and I wonder why so many of those figures became shelfwarmers and why people started losing interest.

No, hummers are the devils wheels.

besides Hasbro already had plans and a licence for making a Megatron for alternators out of a cadaliac but retailers had lost faith in the line (probably because no-one bought the later repaints) and decided they would no longer stock it.

personally i blame Ricochet and Rollbar. Ricochet should have been made using the mazda mold and Rollbar should have beenmade in Black and called Trailblazer (hey, it's a substitute for the name, no worse than shockblast)

I really like the ones that they released, but yeah, the more popular characters should've been made...doesn't really make sense how they did it. But this was the first line of Transformers to impress me since I originally saw my friend with a Transformer back in the 80s and I ran out and bought Optimus Prime.

Are the Binaltechs that much better than the Alternators they're like 2x the price?
