This is my first custom. I have been so inspired by everything I have seen here at TFW2005, so I really want to say thank you to all who make this amazing community happen.

This has been a really fun one to work on, and I am looking forward to continuing this hobby for as long as I can. Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy.

Alternators Downshift started life as Wheeljack, but when the blue stripes started flaking off, I decided to repaint him. At first I painted him blue, but the paint was not standing up to the test of time. So I again disassembled him, then stripped the parts down to bare plastic, and started something fresh...

All questions, comments, and criticisms are welcome!
I would love to know what you guys think, as I highly respect the work that I've seen here!

I knew that I wanted a green Mustang, but I didn't have any character in mind. I used a basecoat of Safety Green (Kryon Fusion for Plastics), wet sanded, then applied Testors One Coat Lacquers Lime Ice. I then clear coated using a mixture of Future and Simple Green. The black roof stripes and the Reprolabels were applied last.

    Indeed! :)
The launcher assembly is a mixture of lego parts that were cut up and filled with fixit sculpt, and the Launchers themselves came from Dirge.

Thanks, man! I didn't really care for downshift's "leftover wheeljack" head, so I went for something different. I have always liked treadbolt's head, so I thought I would try it on this guy. It took zero modification to fit, the socket was a perfect fit.

Hmmmm I like the idea lot. If I ever come into another wheeljack or mustang mold I am definitely going to have to try this out.

I wasn't sure how people would feel about such a different look for downshift, but in the end he lives on my shelf and I like it, and thats what making a custom is about for me.
