Thought id let you all know what my next custom is gonna be. I don't know where the idea came from, but one night i had a sudden brain wave and thought to myself "you know what? No ones ever done an Alt Cliffjumper before...if i made him into a rally/tuner car that would look awesome!"

So the next day i started looking for supplies. I eventually found my base model, an Alt Silverstreak and a few days later i found a cheap 1/24 scale RC Subaru sports car that had everything i needed: Wheels, spoiler, body kit and a hood scoop.

I havnt made much progress with this yet as i have been busy finishing up a commission which i cant wait to show you all as its one of my best pieces yet! But once thats done i hope to get cracking on this.

Here's what i have so far, all the parts seem to be much bigger despite the scale being the "same", so everything is like fitting a square into a round hole.

As you can see the wheels are too big to simply fit into where the olds ones did, so i need to shave a lot of plastic out and re-shape the wheel arches just to fit the new wheels. Then i need to chop the original front bumper section off and mold the new front bumper in and join it together. (i had to cut it in half to make it match the dimensions of the car mode better as it too was much wider than it should have been. Either this Alt's scale is wrong, or the RC car i bought for the parts is.)

Then i must do the same to the rear bumper and also do the same for the side skirts.

Heres the look i am going for:

Hopefully i'll be able to pull this off, i think this style would really suit Cliffjumper and make the whole toy look very unique overall. Ive never done such extensive remolding before so i hope i can do it but i feel confident cos i figure that if i can restore a real car from the scrap heap to show-room condition, im sure i can do this!

The thing i am not looking forward to the most is remolding the head.

That's gonna be sweet when you finish man!

However, Alt CJ has been done before (multiple times, in fact). That certainly is no deterrent to your idea/project though :)

Keep us posted on your work! :thumb

There is a 1/24 scale car toy line out there that has the subaru WRX with body kit (2 types in fact) that actually fits the WRX Alt quite nicely. There called Excess Tuners by Maisto. I used them on my tuned up Alt customs. It was probably over 2 years ago though that I did the customs so I'm not sure if they still sell the toy cars.

As for the head, Scupt-bot made a CJ head for Alts (not sure if that's the same head RL has on his) so may want to PM him if you want to go that route.

Plus im in the UK so they probably wouldnt sell them here anyway even if they still sold them. I cant afford to buy any new kits now though as ive spent all my money on what i have. Now im broke so i must make this stuff work somehow.

I might look into the guy with the heads though, thanks for the info.

If you are looking for a head, Superquad gave me the idea of using an Alt Ricochet head for CJ awhile back. So if you have a Ricochet lying one around that could work too.

Hehe, wow somehow I forgot about telling you that! Goes to further prove that if God hadn't attached my head to my neck, I'd forget it too. :lol

    . . . I mean, um, yeah I did :D

SonRay, are you going to add all of the decals to your custom as well?

That's gonna look sweet. I've always loved the Buru mold. Here's a pic of my quick and easy WIP CJ with a BT Alert head. I'm still trying to decide if I'm gonna cut the horns off and put them further back. The reasons I used Sideswipe was that he's cheap ($15) and his chest reminds me of CJ the most

Looks like it will be cool. I do actually have a wRX CJ made from the red KO version with a BT Alert head and some black paint added but no body kit like yours will have. looking forward to it

Isnt the Ricochet head exactly the same as Silverstreak's?

Yes im going to try and hand paint them on, as i dont know where to buy decals like that on their own.

The custom graphics will be airbrushed on though for sure. I cant decide if i should go with a design like the red subaru has, or use something else like a large "STI" logo on the side, or use a similar design to Smokescreen's Subaru Rally team logos and stuff.
