I have someone trying to sell me an Alternator Silverstreak on another forum. He says that he has both the left and right steering wheel versions. He said the left var. was $25. and the right var. was $45.

Is the right variant that much more valuable over the left? What's the deal?

to be honest no. At least for me not so much. The left was specifically made for US markets. Japanese only had Right Hand Driver versions. I remember when they came out. You coudl find both versions easily.

Meh... I'd just get the lefty and call it good. Getting the righty just because it's "harder to find" is kind of silly.

The right-hand steering wheel was the first set for the mold. When Hasbro eventually realized their mistake and made the rest with the left hand steering wheel. My first Alt. has the right-hand steering wheel and I did not know about it. You can get the left-hand version and call it good. They look identical except where the steering wheel is.

I had both versions, if you want to get the rhd just cause its different, go for it. At least where I live, the rhd was the harder to find one....the lhd version was found everywhere, sometimes in abundance.

There's a little tidbit of trivia or info that goes along with the reason why there was a rhd version.....
