Pretty sweet!

I considered painting the ears on mine blue, but painted them silver along with the mouthguard and crest.

I did paint the eyes blue however.

 

yeah, i was too, but decided on blue. i just don't like the silver plastic. looks cheap to me. if you can see it i also painted the rest of his helmet black to match the front. i just looks more complete to me.

They should have never gone with the bare "silver" plastic, it did indeed look very cheep.

 

I painted them blue as well, but it's for a different character.

Hadn't thought about painting Wheeljack's but now that I see Darkconvoy's I might just have to do his in silver.

 

I just went with one of the repro headbacks that are translucent blue, gives him the blue "ears" and lightpiped eyes too.

 

Ya I ordered one of those from transrepro about 2 years ago (maybe alittle less) but never got it. So had to paint.

 

I was going to, and he had his second stroke merely days before I was to do it (was waiting for my next check at the time) this came from a new guy though, who makes a lot of gi joe repro stuff, and started delving into TFs just last summer or so. he also has the barrel for decepticharge/windcharger, trailbreaker, ironhide alt heads and such too.

 

is that that Alyosha dude?

I'm still waiting for him to get more stock of ratbat ears

 

yep thats the guy. he was out of stock on the wheeljack headbacks, but when I emailed him, he said that was no problem, he just had to pour more, asked for a one week lead time is all.

 

Cool, might have to try emailing him.

 

i really wouldn't mind getting the clear blue head. it's just so damn expensive for a piece of plastic! not that i can't afford it, but just my frugalness taking over. besides, i think hasbro/takara should've just put in light piping in the first place. and shoulder mounted cannons damnit! does resin really cost that much?? hell, transrepro wants 6.50 for a non firing mounted cannon. BTW, where are these binaltech arming kits?? they were only 14.99. anybody have one or two for sale?
i just took the big lightsabers from my son's SW unleashed figures and gave them to a few of my alts. all i really want are the cannons.

they started to provide the light-piping, that is how the headback is able to work, as the eyes are just holes. It was one of many different changes they made in order to keep the toy's mold within its alloted budget. As for the arming kits, they still show up on Ebay, but only here and there so you have to keep your eye out for them. oh, and don't try ordering from Transrepro, as Ken is out, he had a second stroke about a year and a half or so ago and hasn't made anything since then that I'm aware of.

 

i'm sorry to hear that. i was going to order them from him too. (shoulder cannons)
anybody know of a website offering these besides ebay?

I also ordered WJ heads from KCC, but never got them. Also, had KCC been able to fill my order, it would have been for a full repro head, not just the light-piped back. As much as I would like to still get the light-piped head, I'm already at a loss (I ordered 4 for customs = $35 total with shipping) as I didn't get a refund either.   I really hope Ken gets well, but I'd like to hear from his end as well (how his progress is going, etc.). There were rumors of someone taking over his "operation" to at least fill previous orders, but as I said we've heard nothing. It's just such a tragedy.
