It's been too long since I've posted here! I bought a KO Grimlock (oddly enough, the mags and sword are from Wheeljack), and did up Soundwave. I used a laser pointer casing and made some extra pieces for his shoulder pod. It's mounted with rare-earth magnets; one in the pod, and one under the hood. The head is from Sculpt-bot, and I got some G1 Soundwave cannon tips off eBay. Being a KO, he doesn't fit together perfectly in alt mode, but I think he looks sharp in bot form. I had to grind out his rear side windows; like ALT Wheeljack, they were solid plastic with black paint, and I didn't like that look. Labels from Repolabels. Eventually, I'll put together a gallery submission of him, with a few more pics. Enjoy!
he looks great, man. And it seems it fits together in alt mode better than you said. You can make attached images show up fullsize, no need to go elsewhere. Just right-click the attachment links in your post editor and copy, and then paste into the IMG tags.
That paint job is absolutely slick. It's one of the best top coats I've seen on a custom in a long time. Thank you for sharing, man.
Love it!!....this is one of the many alt customs I never get tired of seeing....a Mustang Alt Soundwave...very cool mod on the engine gun, and I absolutely love that blue
Great work man! I love the blue, it's perfect. The engine gun mod is really nice. The only thing that looks a bit rough is the head but it doesn't take away from the awesomeness of your work.
lol, yeah, I couldn't resist using it in the shoot. I'm not happy with the head, either. I just couldn't get it as smooth as I wanted. I'm not 100% happy with the overall paint job either; there's a subtle orange-peel to it that I tried to knock down with high grit papers. This is the first time I've used automotive paints in about a decade on anything. I guess I really should invest in an airbrush if I want a glass-like finish. Thanks for all the compliments, guys!
