So I was looking around for Alternators online today and came upon this. NEWS/RUMORS: @l3x of The Energon Pub has posted what appears to be the first image of the Alternators Mirage announced today at BOTCON. The image is clearly of a prototype possible showcased at BOTCON, and you can clearly see it transforms into a Ford GT40. link found here http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=5758 is there anything information wise anyone could tell me about him? I tried the search button but didnt get a real topic about this new figure. Thanks, LP
He was announced and shown in prototype form at Botcon in September. If you search the News forum for "Botcon update" you should find the topics on him. He's a Ford GT, will allegedly be blue with a white racing stripe, and is due out in June.
4 more - OP and Mirage (2 so far). Unless Skids and Prowl (new package are counted), or maybe I'm mistaken? Uh, what else is there?
Shhh, its a secret... Seriusly though, the way Has/Tak has been latelywith stop leek there's no telling, they managed to pope Alt Prime without anything past knowing the mold was coming. I bet we find out at toy fair.
Only thing I don't like about Mirage is the head doesn't quite look sufficiently Mirage-ey to me. I wonder if remolded versions of Prowl, Skids, and/or Prime & Mirage count toward the "new mold" total or the "redeco" total - or does it depend on the amount of remolding (Dead End level versus Wheeljack level, for example)
shouldn't matter, I wouldn't think. sure if you get industry-technical, that would make a new mold, but when you talk to not in-the-know people, a new mold means a new car. Andy
I agree. I don't know what they were trying to go for. Sometimes, I get the sense that Has/Tak is not only trying to "modernize" the characters, but to steer us away from G1 ever so slightly so as to allow the Alt/BT line to endure indefinitely with new characters. Just a suspicion, but I think it's just a matter of time before non-G1 characters are a large part of the line. (including entirely new characters)
Alternators isn't G1....Takara's Binal Tech is a continuation to G1 of sorts, kind of like how Hasbro is linking Cybertron to Energon. because Hasbro never said "G1 and Alternators go together, and contain all the same characters", this means anything can happen, ala Decepticharge, Dead End, and other "changes to G1" the line contains. So far, the only 'real' toyline to suceed G1 is the yet-to-be-confirmed Neo G1 line Hasbro are considering producing.
which ones are you missing maybe i can help you out? pm me... We all know they're gonna pull a crazy fast one and bring out Bumblebee as a hummer
yep, that's true, but for a line that is 95% G1 characters so far, with countless nods to the G1 molds, I'd say that it pretty much began as an updated G1 toyline. It is steering away from that though.
I think to designs are moving away from the gen1 era which Im fine with as long as its an update or homage to the old school times we all are from. With Mirage I can't wait to see how easy he is to transform. Looks like alot of detail is going into the new molds as well as some thought into linking the past. Wonder who they will recolor him as?
I'd go for a Blurr or Hot Rod in this mold, with re-molded heads. Blurr would rock in old GT40 blue w/red stripe colors. I can't wait til June.
