Another strike against the Leader class IMO. They haven't made a rubber tire resistant to cracking since G1. Each & every one of my RID tires is cracked, and I take excellent care of my collection.

I'll still probably get the Leader class though...:redface2:

*edit* Yikes, why is his waist so puny in these pics? Surely he's mistransformed?

He must be transformerd wrong. Looks like they need to slide the top half down or the bottom half up. Looks great though! I will have to check Costco for this one come June.

As someone with a yellow and red RID Prime on his shelf and a Magnus, all with cracked tires, I'm pretty bummed about this one. They just split perfectly on their own as if cut with a knife... it bugs the hell out of me

that happens because of the weight from the vehicle and the shape of the tire. Why do you think 20th Prime and this new movie Prime have thin, wide wheels?
The fat and short tires are what did rid Prime and Magnus in. too much weight being pressed down on fat short tires caused them to split. 20th Prime's thin wide tires do not have this issue. It all comes down to tires designed with weight in mind and the distribution of that weight. the wide thin tires can take this weight just fine and are not prone to splitting.

Does this only happen to the US version? I have the Car Robo Convoy and Magnus, and the tires are fine

I'm not sure. My RID super robot brothers are all perfectly fine (I don't own and of their regular versions though).

I heard it was cause by the shape of the tire and not the rubber itself.

Which is why I'm trying to find a way to cast my remaining "intact" tires and have them made from silicone rubber which supposedly lasts longer (it's used on slot cars).

I've got no idea what you guys are doing to the tires - I've never had a single one crack on ANY of my figs, and I have a wide range of new, old, played with, and displayed G1 through present figs. Maybe sitting on a shelf in car mode too long does it? Humidity?

    I <3 rubber tires.

So you're saying if we all move to Minneapolis then our tires will be okay?

    *joking*

I still think it has to do with the weight on the tires and the tire's shape.

I've got 10 Gen.1 Primes and 3 Magnus's most of them with good tires (cept for the crappy ones we found at yard sales and such. But their tires are only dry, not cracked). Hell, my dad has 40 year old slot cars most with good rubber tires.

I mean guys, are your tires Cracked and Dry? Cause the ones on my RID Prime are cracked but as fresh as they were the day I bought them.

Damnit I KNEW this thread would turn into another RID tire discussion.

Actually you'd have to move to North Dakota, because that's where most of them came from and spent most of their existence.

I don't recommend it, though. Living in ND is crazy talk.
