    That voice clip is spooky.

Like if Megatron aged over a long period of time.

He sounds like a pretty nice guy. I don't know if he'll get the Megatron role or not so if he does, great. If not, life goes on.

His Megs sounds a bit off, but I wonder how much processing they did back in the day to Megs voice.

yeah, he's got glimpses of Megs voice in there. I think there was a bit of processing to megatron's. He sounded a little more raspy and mechanical. That's what's making the difference here. Still, cool to hear it :)

Yeah, it does sound a bit aged and seems to have a little Shakesperean tinge to it, but I still recognize the voice.:)  Plus, I'm loving the creepy, mechanical tone this sample has.

He just sounds slightly sedated... that's all. But just like Cullen, he's still got it, baby!

You voiced a multitude of Transformers characters - which one do you feel you enjoyed doing the most?

    Megatron!

For some reason, that made me grin hard as hell when I read it!

I was under the impression Welker hated his time on Transformers.

It indeed sounds different, but definitely more grown up and sinister, just like Bay's Megatron.

    Wow.

    He's got it.

I have to try some voice processing on that though, to see if I can get the classic Megatron voice out of it.

What effects did they do to 'Con voices back in the day?

The only confirmed facts I've heard about Frank are:

-if you ever hear something not human emoting in film or TV, it's him

-he's the nicest jealousy-inducing rich guy in the world

-he's not big on giving interviews (obviously not so much so now)'

Very cool interview! Grats to the Allspark for getting ahold of him. :D

Awesome interview, and Megs still sounds great (I mean how often over the past 20 years did he even do that voice). Welker's the man! Plus no one says the word "Leader" as cool as him.

wow. the man's still got it!
sure it sounds a bit aged an older but his megatron voice is way more sinister now than it was back in the 80's. the ageing on the voice helps it out even more. i was watching the original gen.1 on dvd yesterday and i can say that i like his voice now. older, more sinister, and downright evil.
with cullen already on board adding frank would be absolutely great. fans would dig it. now i know david kaye's megatron is awesome as well but he always seemed more like a "gentlemenly" megatron to me. he'd kick you ass with class. however, his voice just isn't as sinister as gen.1 megs.
it'd be nice to see him voice someone else in the movie through.
anyways, i still think welker totally deserves the part of megatron 100%.

Yeah, for a bit of dialogue with no vocal distortion effects at all, it sounds amazing... and oddly still a bit mechanical!! And considering he probably hasn't done that voice since the original movie 20 years ago, it's still spot-on in my opinion.

And what an absolutely BRILLIANT move by Allspark to do. Getting a brand new Welker rendition of Megatron right in the height of the movie is only going to fan the flames even more of a fire that's already a full-blown inferno of support. This interview could not have happened at a better time.

First hearing Cullen saying "I am Optimus Prime" a couple of months ago and now Welker getting all Meg's on us - what an incredible treat for us old fogies :)
