Was the ending of All Star Superman the beginning of Red and Blue Superman?
No. For one thing Superman Red/Blue happened in 1998, All Star Superman happened in 2005. Besides, there's no corolation there, Superman Blue/Red was EM based, having lost all his solar abilities.

Really it was a move in a string of bad moves where DC was trying to shake up their heroes. They decided to change him just because and in the end they changed him back because the readers didn't like it.
All-Star Superman sits in it's own universe pretty much, DC's attempt at making easy to access stories like the idea of Marvel Ultimates.
If I remember correctly, it all leads to Superman living on for a million years and becoming the Superman Prime where he's all gold and lives in the sun or something. It's weird.
What ever it was, it was terrible.
I took it that he died at the end, saving the sun. Of course I only saw the movie.
Nope. Not dead. He's Superman.
