I was about to take pictures of a G1 Frenzy for auction when I noticed that it's all plastic (i.e. No metal parts for the Feet, Elbows or Shoulders). Is this a knock-off?

Not necessarily, could be one of the chinese TF's or the very last run of the original casettes.

IIRC Frenzy always had gold details on his chest. The weapons, however, would be silver chrome on the initial run and gold on the later ones. To my knowledge, both had the die cast. It was only Squawk Talk and Beast Box that were 100% plastic on the Decepticon side. I might be wrong, though, since the gold weapons ones did come out at the same time as the other plastic / metal variants.

Gold Chrome Frenzy and Rumble for that matter had all plastic. The Diecast was removed when they both were packaged in the Two pack blister cards.
