INDEED. Loving this series. One of the best TF comic series in years. Holy sh*tcakes!!!! G1 Prime removes his mouthpiece to have a drink of moonshine bootleg energon!!!! pure awesome!!!
Its based on the movie aesthetic and because of which it even goes as far as showing Optimus Prime without a faceplate just like the Optimus Prime from the movie. Hey, it happens a lot these days - when a movie is created based on a popular franchise but changes significant details like appearances then chances are the original franchise is changed to fit the movie more. Its why Spiderman developed organic webs in the main comic stories - to match the movie. And anyway, CODA has eight stories during its four issues -- each one is written and drawn/colored by different people. This style of art should not be an example of how the whole of CODA will be.
Yeah, color me unimpressed with the art. I am however interested to see more about Ironhide and Prime's past though, decisions decisions.
"Transformers: All Hail Megatron #13 will arrive in stores on July 22 from IDW Publishing. The issue is written by Simon Furman and Mike Costa, with art and cover by Don Figueroa and Chee. "
Oh... oh jeez. I've never been Don's #1 fan, but I've always liked him well enough, but this is... just... just... oh, DEAR.
So true. Sometimes it's a good thing, other times it's a travesty. At least this Prime's face looks more humanoid then Bay-Prime. I'm sure we will see alot more Movieverse influence retro-actively put into new media based on previous generations. Hopefully it will be done logically & tastefully.
Well, it looks great... but... I think movie Prime without face plate looks more 'Prime' to me than this comic book version minus face plate.
Really? The only publicly-available sales estimates suggest that while AHM is the best-selling Transformers title, IDW's Transformers comic franchise is sinking. From the looks of this and that Robot Heroes book, the entire franchise is moving in this direction, which is most likely why Animated was canceled - doesn't fit into Hasbro's vision of the franchise. The difference with this and other franchises is Transformers have had so many visual changes in the past 25 years that the movie look will probably stick around longer than movie-based changes in classic comic franchises.
Next thing we'll know, the original G1 Bumblebee character will be transforming into a Camaro and boasting about how he is the fastest thing on wheels while communicating through radio transmissions.
They kind of already did that with the "Fight for Energon" or whatever Universe flash cartoon. Both were probably supposed to be some sort of Universe incarnation of G1 Prime and Bumblebee, but both were heavily movie-based.
I know. But thats just throwaway crap. I mean they'll probably be making Camaro toys of G1 Bumblebee and Optimus Prime a long-nosed truck.
Well one more reason to dislike the movies now.. that the visual style is starting to infect the rest of the franchise tree.
I've always been cool about various Prime's having mouths but that just doesn't work on G1 Prime...not at all.
Twelve of the main story which have all been released now. Then four more issues sub-titled "CODA" which feature two eleven page stories each based on various characters and set during the past and present tying into the main AHM storyline somehow. Each story is written and colored by different people.
Uhh... whaaat... whaaat...uhh. What the hell happened to Don's art?! It looks kinda.... kinda damned weird! Oh well looks like Marcelo Matere goes back to Number 1 favorite spot.
