Agreed. Hope they work more in his face though.
Only reason I'm going for UT over this guy is because it is more accurate with the rest of the body.

 

Definately a leader class size, wonder how the final design for unique version will turn out.

 

Optimus' name in Spanish is the same as in English...

 

I don't see anything "wrong" with the face... I suppose you have to have OCD to really see some major inaccuracies...

 

Damn damn damn.. this, or UT's? So hard to choose. While this is definitely better proportioned(lose some weight, optimus), has an AMAZING paint job and more poseable, UT's mold is SPOT on. I blame this on our consumer entitlement

I am happy to be wrong but i see a metal gorilla or monkey face in an Optimus helmet.

It is an outstanding effort overall. I am sure Takara are watching these 3P later-movie designs and getting ideas off them.

 

A sound decision! I generally don't go in for multiple characters, but in this instance the AAT El Cid fulfills the AOE Optimus Prime pre-Sword, while the TLK Optimus Prime is more represented by UT Challenger.

I see that they photoshopped their promo images more than Hasbro does! That being said, I still think he looks really nice. At first, I was very much on the side of the UT version, but now the UT version looks sort of big and boxy by comparison. Maybe that's how he was in the film, but I remember him more curved and athletic, like this version.

Eh, I am definitely getting this, but I might still get the UT version after seeing some color shots.

 

What they really should do, since El Cid looks more like the first AOE Optimus prime, is give him his gun and weapons before he finds the sword, as well as the sword

 

Also, i cannot wait for a similar battle of 3P Sentinel Primes. He had a great design.

 

Every damn Optimus toy has gotten this wrong. Why bother to give him the sword and shield but not the full knight look? Makes no sense, and honestly, I almost didn't get El Cid cause I'm sick of companies not doing the full knight look since he only had the pre-knight look for what, one hour of one movie? However the figure looks so fun that I'm just going to ignore the inconsistency and hope that they release some arm covers or something down the line.

Plus I am also getting UT Challenger and also recently preordered the 3A Optimus so my knight itch will DEFINITELY be scratched
