Teacher’s act of bravery goes viral - Yahoo! News
That teacher's got ovaries of steel.
She could have called the cops. And if the classroom was that close to the shootout, she could have moved them.
But hey, if people think she did something amazing, don't let my opinion spoil it.
She got guts, I tell ya. Even the Undertaker could have pissed in his pants
Score one for Peggy Hill?
Her first duty as a teacher was to give the children under her care the best chance of survival, which she did by keeping them as low to the ground as possible and making sure they didn't run off. Wandering around during a gun fight is a stupid idea, especially when you know the gunmen aren't gunning after you. Why risk it?
They were outside. She was inside the building. Bullets can go through walls, bounce around, and hit people who are low to the ground. The best bet is to move them somewhere inside the building where bullets cannot reach them.
They can also hit people who are moving around.
So why not take advantage of the cover that immediately presents itself?
It's sure as hell harder to hit someone who:
1. Has taken cover behind a solid wall
2. Is closer to the ground
These guys were carrying out a hit in the middle of day. Do you want to risk running around and present a target to the trigger-happy cartels when you can just hide, stay out of the way, let them carry out the hit and then leave?
Personally I think her behaviour is utterly faultless.
I'm not saying what she did was bad. But I would have told the kids to crawl into the hallway of the school and into another room.
Is it wrong that when I think of situations like this, all I can do is picture myself having to keep telling somebody in the room to shut the fuck up when they insist of screaming hysterically for the sake of not getting all of us killed?
I think she did a brave thing. Its not easy even with 4 and 6 years old sometimes to get the to crawl and all go in one way. What if one frozen in fear or she got them out to the hall way and one had hid somewhere and when they got up was shot.
I am a teacher of very young kids so I think for the most part she did a very good thing and it worked. Kids can painc easy and keeping the calim was the best way to keep them safe. So good work for her I say.
the way things have gone for Mexico over the past decade is fucking tragic. I hate hearing stories like this, even if there's some positive side to it.
The teacher did absolutely the right thing in this case, but the thing that really gets to me is how everday it all seemed. The teacher handled things so well, the kids probably have no real sense of how messed up it is to be in that situation in the first place.
You are in a room where you know the gunmen aren't, do you really want to move them to another area where you don't know what you'll find?
Separate names with a comma.
