Afterburner Goes Next Gen | IshTalkers
Looks great! WIll definitely check it out once it comes out on PSN! I've always been a big fan of Afterburner at the arcade.
Yeah AB was a RUSH!
Played through the entire game at Disney Quest last year, and it was amazing. But it helps that it had that awesome moving seat with feedback.
F yeah, used to be all over some Afterburner 2.
The music was awesome
totally have to get someone to stand behind my chair and shake it while im playing.
The music from III can be used on this one, that's the best version IMHO.
DUDE I want to try that! Never saw it in the arcades here. The last time I played something in the same series(unofficially) was G-Loc back when Chuckie Cheese had it.
I hope it doesn't suck. I have awful memories of the Sega Ages collection.
the only one that was SEMI-ok was Space Harrier.
Space Harrier was playable, as was Alien Syndrome. But the horror that was Golden Axe will haunt me for all eternity.
Original Golden Axe was badass. The sequels sucked.
The arcade sequel was quite awesome though. However, I was referring to the awful 3D Ages remake included on the Sega Arcade Classics compilation.
I don't have a problem with the Boris-laden Golden Axe 2 on Genesis. It was very playable and the characters as a whole attacked quicker, so the battles were a bit quicker. I also liked the Charged special abilities. It wasn't perfect, but compared to GA3, it was perfect.
watching that gameplay video makes me realize all this game needs is a techno-organic re-skin and it'd be a next-gen panzer dragoon!
Afterburner Climax was a build from scratch by the AM2 team where as the Ages games IIRC were basically the original games with updated graphics. So I think Climax will turn out okay.
That is disappointing about Ages though, had no idea they were that bad.
There is an even more awesome way to play that was at an arcade in Ft. Lauderdale years ago. You got strapped into a 4-point harness inside the game machine. You needed it since the machine could go 360 degrees on both the x-y and x-z planes.
I spent alot of the time that I was playing upside-down. I generally did better when I was playing like that.
I haven't gone back and played any of the Afterburner games since that.
BTW, are there any more details about this new game out there, like price, release date, etc.?
Some new screens:
After Burner Climax takes off April 21 on XBLA; April 22 on PSN -- Joystiq
I gotta say, this looks niiice.
is it only 3rd person POV? i HATE that in flight games, or is it more of an arcade style vs flight sim?
dude... its afterburner. not sure if the word 'sim' was in the room when they made it.
