    33 hours straight! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :banghead:

I went to work at 4pm Friday. I got off at 1am Sunday morning. I was suppose to get off Saturday morning at 8am, then go back in at 4pm and get off at 8am Sunday. One guy called off, so I volunteered to work 8 to 4 if I could get off at midnight Saturday night. Midnight comes around, and nobody shows up to replace me. It was 1am by the time I left.

Even better was that the company I work for held a Christmas party for the clients (mentally challenged individuals (or ******s if you prefer)) that we take care of. Not fun at all. But at least none of them went off. 40 clients and at least half of them get very violent when they flip out.

Ahhhhh. Its nice to be home :)

oh i work with mentally challanged, and handcapt, people for a living, 120 plus, it's not that hard, but i know what you mean by some of them being "on the edge of violence"

it's a tough job, but rewarding, if you like helping people.

I work with one mentally handicapped guy, but he isn't that bad. I'll work 6 hours at that job then go into my other job for 8~10 hours, but damn man 33 hours, you deserve a metal, and a pay raise.

I've discovered that I begin to go brain dead at the 36 hour mark. On a couple of occasions while I was still in school, I would go to school for 8 hours, work for 6 hours, go home and do homework/study all f'n night, go to school for 8 hours, go back to work for 6 hours, etc. etc. etc. My record was about 48 hours without sleep. Sucks. Plus, I worked at a grocery store, so I was up and running around the whole time. Doing a 16 hour work shift now doesn't seem like so much of an obstacle to me.

I too work with mentally challenged individuals, or as we in the profession call them, college students. The most I've ever done continuously was a 26-hour workday, which was during a blizzard a year or two ago.

I normally work an 11-hour workday, which is nothing, but after hour 18 of that blizzard, my higher thought processes decided to pack it in and call it a night, and my body was just operating on autopilot. Somehow I made it through the rest of the night and the hour and a half trip down the highway which usually took 25 minutes. I remember waking up in bed and being mildly confused because the last thing I remembered was being at work.

Wow...33 hours? I am pretty spent after 14...and I just got off a 20-hour shift!

Thankfully I had today off, or I'd be pretty dead by now.

That 20 hour shift was 9 hours of overtime = $420. :D  SWEET!
