Finish this sentence afteryou see DOTM: Sentinel is...... A cold hearted mother-f$&@er that deserved to stay dead on the moon. And I can't believe I'm saying this, bu he's more of a jerk than his Animatec counterpart.
Sentinel Prime is a brilliant character who provides the biggest plot twist of the Summer. Yes, he's an absolute dick, but I think that's what the writers were intentionally going for. He added the 'Dark' to Dark of the Moon.
Sentinel is not actually much of a douche, he only defected to save his planet. He had good reasons and was more misguided than a jerk.
True, but he was willing to sacrifice his own brethren to do so, and he didn't even hesitate to kick Optimus' ass on DC.
The embodiment of "Well-Intentioned Extremist" and "the Ends Justify the Means". He saw the Autobots were going to lose the War, and did what he felt was necessary to ensure their survival. Sentinel wanted the restoration of Cybertron, even if he had to betray his ideals (the title of Prime) and those close to him (Optimus).
Sentinel IS a jerk. The scene at the NEST base proves it. He didn't have to kill Ironhide, but he did. In fact he could have hidden his deal with the Decepticons until later, or even have revealed it while the other autobots were gone. He especially didn't have to shoot Ironhide in the back. Sentinel is a lunatic, even if he was doing it for the greater good, he was doing a lot that wasn't necessary.
Ironhide was in effect, Sentinel's second biggest threat from an Autobot point of view. He was merely taking out a possible stumbling block while he had an easy chance to do so. He had the Autobots right where he wanted them and struck with an in-compassionate brutality.
Sentinel is fucking awesome! Even though I accidentally stumbled across his spoiler his actions still completely by surprise.
I was the same. I had heard rumblings about Sentinel turning on the Autobots and that Ironhide might die...but didn't expect the two of them to collide like that. I think my mouth was hanging open the entire sequen from there to Sentinel driving of with the pillars.
Nope. Ironhide, even in the first film, showed a willingness to injure humans, the reason Ironhide died had NOTHING to do with Sentinel's plan. The writer killed Ironhide because 1. It shows how evil Sentinel is going to be and 2. Ironhide is a useful fighter and fan favorite. 1 helps develop Sentinel and 2 puts the film in a darker place and makes it harder for the Autobots to persevere.
This. Sentinel is an asshole. But one of the best characters in the film. Ironhide's death had me in shocked at how sudden it was.
