So, I'm doing some soul-searching on my 400+ piece TF collection, and I'm not sure I need it all anymore.
Anybody here sold off a lot like this, or have any advice for somebody who's thinking of parting with a good-sized collection?

I'd stay away from trying to sell it as one big lot. Not many people outside of re-sellers would go for something like that. Try either individual item sales or small lots, like 3-5 figures. Once most of it is gone then think about putting the rest together in one shot. Also you'll probably want to try selling on the boards here first- it's free and stuff.

Wheeljackslab.com buys collections, he can give you a good estimate on they're worth maybe.

But yeah Id go with Oro's plan and break them down some. Making some extra cash would'nt hurt

It really depends on which pieces or how many rarities you have in there.

Just think carefully on the pieces you want to keep. ;)

    Ebay:
List everything for sale on all the message boards for two months, gradually lowering the price to your "reserve" price. Then put the rest on ebay in themed lots like "armada lot" etc. If you have anything particularly rare, put it on ebay and include links to the auction in your "for sale" thread on the message boards.

Thanks for the replies, good ideas all. Not much of an ebay-er, so I'll probably start here.

And rattrap007, you can have my 1/4 of a BW Scorponok and my 1/2 of Ultra Magnus' trailer. :)
