Looking at the transformation, it looks like they could follow the same design they've done before and give him even less extra kibble.

 

Yes, it is a glaring ommission, but I got these off Shapeways (a board member designed them, unfortunately I don't remember who), and with a little paint they were perfect.

My biggest gripe is that he's too small to go with some of my larger scale figures. I'd love an OS KO of this guy (the DOTM one would also be satisfactory).

 

I just dusted off my Takara Sidearm Sideswipe off the shelf (he's been sitting in alt mode for a while) and just transformed him (also been a while) and yeah, have to agree that his transformation engineering is awesome! It's pretty much a working blueprint for how they should tackle a potential MPM Sideswipe for sure. The Advanced Deluxe DOTM Sideswipe mold (painted silver) is a decent effort but doesn't hold a candle to him. TT SA Sideswipe's transformation blows the other molds of the character out of the water, to include his much bigger Human Alliance figure.

I'm still a little salty that they killed off Sideswipe off-screen with only a Cemetery Wind kill card even mentioning him offhandedly. Such an excellent character design wasted. Was really hoping they would eventually introduce his twin Sunstreaker into the movie continuity, but it seems the writers shifted the whole twin brother angle from Sideswipe/Sunstreaker to Bumblebee/Hot Rod, grrr.

 

The new/smarter writers are gonna bring him back one way or another I can almost garuntee you they're not gonna throw him under the bus like that, plus isabela moner just recently admitted that he's her favorite character.

 

I wanna hold out hope that Swipes comes back somehow (maybe even as a KSI reformatted Cybertronian hybrid who regains his original Autobot consciousness).

 

That card was a piece of fan art. Nothing in the movie or any of the behind-the-scenes stuff showed proof of death.

 

That would require Sideswipe to have some memorable qualities or semblance of personality beyond a single one liner.

I'd rather they focus efforts on establishing the characters we do have rather than resurrect old toys. Though they could conceivably pull a Berserker and reuse Sideswipes model as a new character entirely. Not like the average audience would remember him after a head swap and a deco change for example.

 

I really hope they do bring him back, one way or another. I just can't stop wondering how he'd react with Crosshairs. Both Corvettes, both self centered arrogant badasses. Either they'd be best friends, hate each other's guts, or both.

 

I've decided he's my seconds favorite movie design- only behind Prime. I'd love it if he resurfaces.

As far as personality, I'm not sure if anyone besides Bb and Prime have had enough screen time to actually have developed personalities.

 

for myself i think the rotf skids is my fav movie design (the chevy beat), especially his HA edition.
others that i love are jazz, sideswipe, sideways and bb, with crosshairs, drift, dino and soundwave as good follow ups

 

something I feel like All bumblebee toys get wrong is his arm cannon.The tube part of the cannon should be as wide as the arm itself with a smaller gun tube shaped thing on the side.So far the only bumblebee toys to get the shape and size right is the robot replicas but those still fall short. I hope the masterpiece is small like the size of a modern voyager so it can be slightly in scale with rotf prime because the cannon on this one is only slightly off in scale in detail

Well, the toy is transformed pretty horribly in these photos, and the cannon looks janky as a result of that. Not sure if that necessarily matters in the long run as far as proportions are concerned. But at the least, I could see a 3P company putting out a replacement cannon at some point.

The cannons should be more big, but i'm fine with the size.
The official pics show them in a decent size.

I know but what are they gonna do with the little peices of plastic next to the head cause that hole piece is the the top of the wind shield? I hope this has no parts forming

 

There are on ball joints, it looks like is the same section of the head

 

In the pics Bee looks like leader class or the size of the Battke Ops, but he actually is going to be very short.
