The problem with the G1 cons is that, starting from '85 on, more and more of them have animal modes for their alt forms (Insecticons, Predacons, Terrorcons, even most of the Headmasters). One thing High Moon could do, which was done in Dreamwave's "War Within" series was give many of those Decepticons vehicle alt forms. Then you'd have a whole host of new Cons to pick from, and you could make anyone of them into a tank, jet, car or truck. Because besides Motormaster and Onslaught there weren't a lot of truck oriented Decepticons from G1. You might be able to count Swindle and Crankcase, but I'm not sure if they totally qualify
You could always pick Decepticons from outside the G1 era of course, since we have characters like Demolisher and Slipstream included in this game (Cybertron Dirtboss comes to mind).

Maybe it's not the final roster, as Sideswipe was revealed to be a campaign character, and Jazz was made into a multiplayer exclusive.

 

Jazz is playable in Escalation mode only. That doesn't mean he won't take part in the game's story. The same is true for Shockwave and all other yet to be released pre-order exclusives. A few weeks ago, I would have said Demolisher was just a nod to a dead series, but with the addition of Barricade and Slipstream, it seems unfair to say he couldn't be in this story. He could.

After looking at that thing for a brief moment, posed with the other G1 Characters in that shot, Im almost sure it's Perceptor.

 

I'm 100% sure that in the end credits you see this guy posing right before trypticon and omega supreme go at it.

 

It's Scattershot. If you have the PC version, just go to the transgame/cookedPC directory and see the filenames for yourself, all characters are there, including hidden/locked ones.

Werll, I guess on the anecdotal side it's worth noting several of the generic robots exist in three versions, not just two, ie Autobot, Decepticon and neutral.

 

Huh, I was thinking that Autobot looked like Hot Spot. It would make sense too. I love the art for Onslaught and Dead End though. I would love to have those characters as playable.
