The problem with Activators Megatron is that he didn't have a proper cannon, and in the grander scheme, swords. I really like the figure, but he needed his weapons of destruction.
He does now! As well as a cartoon-accurage paintscheme. He still needs some touch-up, but I'm pleased with it.
Entry one of many more to come.

Total scratch for the cannon and blades.
The cannon is all plasticard of various thicknesses.
The blades are both removable and attach to the copter via double-layer plasticard and a pin for spinning.

-I removed the original cannon and used a sharp exacto to widen the opening under the cockpit.
-Removed the original blades and pin, filled the space with 'green stuff', then drilled a hole for a new pin.
-Built the cannon with a tab that's big enough for the existing slot in the fore arm (which is the exact size of the slot unter the copter nose).
-Cut and built four duplicate blades with posts for the handles.
-Drilled and sculpted the hands to accomodate for the new blade handles.

Painted with Valejo acrylics and sealed with Testors Dull Cote.

I think the activators look better than the deluxe and voyager figures. Your activator looks even better!

    Thanks for the compliments!
I'm also working on a sword for Grimlock that can be stored in alt mode.

Satomi beat me to it :lol
This is a great lil bash that slipped through the cracks.
    Great mods & paint.
It looks like you added highlights in the paint or is that just the lighting (does that even make scene?)

yeah, I'm embarrassed that I missed this, as I love tiny TFs. Pretty neat weapons. One thing I wasn't clear on, is the part with the pin for attaching the blades a separate piece?

If you mean the piece on the 'wing', it's sort of an "H" where the blades fit into the sides of the pinned part. The rotation is still there, so the blades spin just as easily as the original part (picture 2 shows it).

I have a G1 colored Starscream almost done, with screw holes and seams covered over and the null-rays given some width rather than flat on one side.
Plans are in the works for an upgraded Grimlock, too.

    Ummmm.... what?

Depends on if my casting material is still good. Haven't used it in awhile, so if it's still workable, I'll cast up the cannon. The blades were kind of easy, so no cast needed for them.
    Short answer: Maybe.

I still have SS to finish, and I'd like to make viable Activators of Dirge and Thrust with the correct wings (I'm calling TC Skywarp because of the colors, and the original SS Thundercracker for the same reason).
Another project on the board is the other two Dinobots in Activator-form (as well as enhancing Grimlock. I have them drawn up, now I just need to buy the base-parts.
    Too...many...ideas...Not...enough...coffee...

Yeah, the paint is highlighted and shaded, plus I added a slight metallic to the gray areas to make it pop.
    Thanks for the compliments!
