'...and we think Action Masters is a better idea than just using the toys from Zone'.

The back of the box says "Optimus found nucleon in a blackhole one day", and repeats the faster, stronger, more alive bizzo phrase.

Posting to show support for the Action Masters.

    They were great little figures!

And I'll bet Action Masters were a way to expand the TF brand in new directions.

I don't know how sucessful the line was though.

What is the general dirt on the profits/loss for Action Masters?

I'm a big fan of Action Masters.
The story in the comics was a little poor but, Simon Furman did reveal in the Collectors Club magazine that he had intended to explore Nucleon and the ramifications of using it fully.

I always thought the tradeoff was sort of cool, but I really wish we could have an assortment of some of those all-new robot designs as fully Transformable TFs. Some of them weren't all that bad as robots.

I liked them. Since 3 3/4 Joes were big at the time as well as Transformers, I saw this as an attempt to make 3 3/4 action figure transformers. Since all TF gimmicks ended with the "masters" suffix, Action-Masters were born. I believe the thinking was that they could be played with in the same manner as Joes..

It seemed logical to me since no-one bothered to transform much at all in the later days of the Marvel G1.

Simon Furman's "Another Time and Place". Transformers came to look at being an Action Master as a kind of living death. I was so happy they found a way to transform again.

Brrrrr. I remember when the Action Masters were first released. Those were dark days.

Wow. I always loved the actionmasters. Gave me some kickass Transformers toys that looked far cooler than their original bodies... apart from Rollout, I only got G1 characters... I wanted to get more, but after I bought my first 6, I decided at 13 I was too old to buy TFs and didn't get back into them until I bought an Airrazor in 2000.

I am still kicking myself I didn't pick up more action masters, nor the G1 classics that had all the damned ones I always wanted ><

If time travel is ever developed in my life time, I'm going back in time and giving myself a swift kick up the clacker for that one.

    In closing, actionmasters rocked ^^
