I am pumped for ACEN 2012, who else is going?
Had to google it, looks like a cosplay nightmare. No thank you ma'am.
i had it confused with acer ane thought this was a thread about computers.
is it a cosplay convention?
you can cosplay but its not required
It's an anime convention here in Chicago. Rosemont, specifically. The full name is "Anime Central."
I went for a day last year and it was pretty neat. I might try for all three days, depending on finances.
I'll admit, I'd mostly be going to scout out merch. I remember last year they had a booth full of mecha stuff that I had no idea what it was about. Now that I've indoctrinated myself in the ways of the super-robot, I'd be stalking that booth like nobody's business.
Also (MAY OFFEND PEOPLE WHO ARE OFFENDED BY COSPLAY):
I think it'd be awesome to dress up as Musashi from Getter Robo. If for nothing else than to see just how many people I'd get asking me who the hell I'm supposed to be. And because he's the only character I know of that my physique actually fits.
*Goes to Google
*See's fat cosplayer
*googles anime central
*sees good sexy jessica rabbit cosplayer
There are actually quite a few attractive cosplayers there.
I've got a pic on my phone of one gorgeous chick who was dressed as a Green Lantern with a plunging neckline.
Rare occasions, I've found. Most geek girls are.... Blech.
At least it's better than the sweaty 50-year-old in the Princess Leia slave costume....
And I thought the 300-pound Yuna I once saw was bad.
Don't cosplay anymore, not after a bunch of anime convention weeaboos made me feel unwelcome for cosplaying a non-anime character.
if you don't mind me asking, who did you cosplay as?
I think last year, I found there were more bad costumes than people who's physiques didn't match.
I'm talking like, unpainted cardboard for armor bad. And not done ironically from what I could tell.
Thankfully, the Chell with a talking Space Core and Rule 63 Captain Hammer made up for what those costumes did to my eyes.
This will probably be my third year going. I really want to go check out the Gundam/Model shop again. First year I went I dressed up as Xion. I didn't the second besides a hook-on tail I found. This year i'm just putting together some random Thundercats, Sentai, and Kamen Rider role play toys together .
i would like to go to various 'cons and just get pics with some of these elaborate costumes/cosplayers.
Nach cosplays as himself.
Dream of the Endless.
Did that after a fashion for a couple Halloweens. "I'm cosplaying a serial killer by wearing my everyday clothes and behaving normally. After all, they look just like anyone else."
That's what my dad used to say when people would dump on him for not being dressed up while taking my friends & I trick of treating. Strangely enough, having him say that to 9 year olds didn't seem odd until now...
Am I excited about a convention full of sweaty fat people in tight clothing? No, which is why I won't be going.
