Ever got a toy that totally fails to impress, but you know you can't sell it, because you can't part with the accessory? (And in most cases no one else would want the toy on its own.)

    Examples in my own collection:
-Chainclaw is pretty much why I got Icepick. Caliburst is arguably also an example.
-Fireburst Optimus: not bad, but not what I'd have gotten on my own if not for the axe.
-Recon Ironhide is pretty good, but it's the weapons that really preclude any thought of selling it.

I'm blanking on other examples, but it's certainly a phenomenon I've noticed. Any thoughts on this?

^ That's a great example. Didn't think of it because I considered Ratbat the real figure! Hound/Ravage is also an example...Hound is fine, but I needed Ravage.

    - Both DOTM Sideswipe and Voyager Prime's weapons. Nice, bulky blasters.
    - Animated two-pack deluxe Prime's axe. It's the Animated Prime axe.
    - Fansproject Bruticus' guns; they don't outshine per se, but are extremely respectable in their own right.

Universe Hound with Ravage, and Botcon Scorch with SG Ravage by extension, I've seen Ravage go for way more than Scorch on eBay

Recon.Ironhide.-The figure itself sucks, but the weapons are awesome
I would say HFTD Terradive for his trident, but He's so awesome that it more or less just compliments him

I dare say Hasbro MP Hot Rod's Double Blasters and Offshoot. Hot Rod isn't a terrible figure, but as I mess with him I realized that I just never cared for Hot Rod or Rodimus. He was always a dumb character and I never liked him. His gun accessories and Offshoot are just FANTASTIC however.

^ THIS. Although I've come to *hate* MP Rodimus. Such a fragile figure... I've yet to transform him. I tried following Peaugh's video but after hearing "careful with this, it may break" for the umpteenth time, I quit before I threw him at a wall.

...and this too. The Energon Gestalts were somewhat interesting to me... but until I saw the Fansproject goodies... didn't go out of my way to buy them. In fact, buying the FP sets caused me to get into collecting TFs after over FIVE YEARS of buying *NOTHING* toy-related.

HFTD Terradive's trident. Not keen on the toy, but the trident save it from being crap, to so so.

Not sure if it really "outshines" the toy, but I've always enjoyed playing with BW Depth Charge's little fish gun, and the black trailer from my G2 Prime served as much more than that when I was growing up.

I truly thought everyone loved that figure. I loved HFTD and Terradive was my favorite figure of the line

    - Not a specific figure, but a lot of the Energon weapons were better than the Scout they came with. Particularly Skyblast's spear, Arcee's crossbow and the sword from Cruellock/Doomlock.
    - Keytar Ratbat accessory with Animated Electrostatic Soundwave
    - The PCC Chainclaw Minicon mold. The only reason that I bought, and kept, PCC Salvage was to have another copy of the Minicon.
    - Recon Ironhide's weapons, although I've had both of the guns break on me.
    - Targetmaster Offshoot, although I wish he had a standard 5 mm peg for a handle, so I could use him with a figure besides MP Rodimus.

I'm not into the PCC scouts, but I really like the Minicons.

Also, RotF Ratchet isn't all that great (he's ok), but RotF Lockdown is glad I made the clearance purchase :)

I bought the set for Ravage but he was so disappointing and Hound was such a solid figure that I've since changed my mind.

    Seconding Animated Ratbat and Laserbeak.

Unpopular opinion here: MP-01. I didn't really like that Prime figure but I've gotten a lot of mileage out of its Matrix and Megatron.

Universe Cyclonus as well. Great figure, actually, but I LOVE Nightstick. I wish Hasbro would release a 3-pack of Targetmasters.

I bought both voyager Primes just for their mech-tech weapons. It's pretty funny how seemingly worthless a lot of the DOTM figures are without them.
