Unpopular opinion of mine, but I think Leader class Starscream is severely overrated. The Deluxe DOTM mold already blew it out of the water in 2011, imo.

The transformation on the Leader class version results in the jet mode having the legs literally stretched out under the jet fuselage, with the biggest chunk volume of it
at the rear of the jet, exactly where the real jet fuselage should be at its thinnest. The feet under the intakes also make the whole fuselage area around the air intakes look way to squar-ish
than need to be. In short, the leader class jet mode looks like a giant overweight/pregnant F-22 - that's perhaps even worse of a thing than the usual robot-under-jet phenomenon.

Furthermore, The foreams in robot mode are imo also not very elegant and the wheel at the rear of the knee is imo worse than the wheels as heelspurs on the deluxe/SS voyager.
As seen in the reviews and various photo's, this voyager is extremely expressive and its head can even look up now.

Brawl also looks to be a vast improvement over the old leader, which has aged not-so-well.

 

My opinions are a complete contrast to yours and i could list problems that i have with these iterations but theres no need. People pick out different areas that make or break figures to them (personally) which I guess is why Hasbro can sell the same character over and over haha. Agree to disagree man  . Megatron is definitely the best we've gotten, even with the foot kibble!

 

Im sorry I must have missed this. The voyager’s head can look up?? Does anyone have a pic they could link to to confirm this? I’ve been waiting for a SS toy that could actually make it look like he was flying in bot mode since the first movie!

I really did not expect voyager Megatron to be that much taller than voyager Optimus!

Makes me wish they made a new TFtM voyager Megs in this line.

Dang...this line is making it really hard for me not to abandone my MPMs and get every single one of these...scale...accuracy...the promise of at least a large portion of the characters that appeared onscreen...it has it all!!!!!

I’m even tempted by that Thundercracker cause he’s listed as being from dark of the moon, the film with the most background Protoform style bots of them all!!!!!

 

Megatron and Grimlock shouldn't exist. Did Hasbro go back in time to the ROTF/HFTD era to design these guys?

 

Those photos of SS Prime really makes him look hideous, in contrast to the beautiful Brawl, Megatron, Grimlock and Blackout...

 

I mean, they sprung for the licensing on the fragging pagani!

 

We also saw the Pegani for more than a fraction of a second.

 

I'd want a new shockwave first and if destroyer is bonecrusher I've been wondering if were getting shockwave, Soundwave , strafe and Jetfire as filler to catch up on movie the best and then move forward. And I think 4 the bumblebee movie characters and these missing 4 from movie the best are not a lot and I can totally see them squeezing them in there somewhere.

 

I'd be shocked if we didn't get big names like Shockwave and Soundwave later one.

 

Damn, so does this mean we're stuck with the flat gray on Megatron? Bummer.

 

He’s really big, given how tall Grimlock seems for even a leader next to Blackout. I must say, though, I’m less enamoured with Starscream in these pics. If his legs were more like the leader’s, with the slightly longer middle section, and the feet were a tiny bit larger he’d be a lot better and more accurate. Still, see how I feel when I see him in person, same as Optimus.

Yeah, though not totally unexpected given how many individual gold paint apps there are. At least the great sculpting means that he still looks pretty good.

 

It seems odd though, bc the alt mode at the toy fair looked like it had a metallic sheen, at least parts of it do. Do those parts hide away in bot mode, so he ends up looking like gray plastic?

 

Late stage proto, silver paint was budgeted out unfortunately...

 

Ah, well that explains that. Grimlock must have used up their metallic paint funds lol.

 

Who knows......Wei Jang might do a fully painted KO Megs from this one.
