I've been re-reading some of the older IDW books and am a bit confused about Kup's "rebuilding". Prowl mentions that the Kimia scientists used Pretender technology to give him a more "modern" body... but that's about all we get. Do we know what, exactly, was done?
i think it was just a way of explaining how they rebuilt him, kinda. its just his pretender body is the same as his regular one, i think
Pretty much. Its a mixture of pseudo-science and callbacks to past events to say that rebuilding him was tough. I think the gist of it is that Kup was so old and outdated that he was incompatible with current Autobot tech. So they fashioned him essentially a pretender armature that looked like his body and slotted the remnants into it.
Anyone think they will revisit the dead universe with Kup, his pretender body allowing him to function in it?
I kinda hope we don't see Kup again. Not that his exit wasn't disappointing, but to bring him back, you need to drudge up a bunch of stuff that ...and I dunno about the rest of you guys... but I'd really prefer to never hear about again; namely time travel, Infestation, and the Dead Universe. All that stuff is such a damn mess, its best just left alone at this point. Thanks to Barber and Roberts, more than ever before, we've got a huge cast of really colorful characters such that, as much as I enjoyed IDW Kup, I don't feel like I'm missing anything by him not being around. Besides, the old man's been through way too much. I'd just leave him rest.
Anyone else hope they just bring back Kup and pretend infestation didn't happen? Cross overs are fine as a side, but I dis-like when cross over are taken as canon. Kup has to finish his little story of coming back from the near dead. If we look at Prowl bring him back Prowl had 'plan' for him. Prowl mentions how Kup was going to lead the autobots into a smarter way to fight the war. But all Kup did was help a bit in AHM and then nothing. I don't know who wrote what, but it feels like Kup's coming back story was forgotten about when changing writers or something.
SPOILER ALERT.................. The short of infestation kup gets turned into a zombie which ends up being the equivelant of the Borg from star trek, prowl uses his influence over Kup to make him destroy a space bridge to Pre war cybertron so dvoid/ dead universe can gobble up cybetronian life. I don't remember all of it but it wasn't terrible as it took a fun twist on zombie architecture. Anywho matrix stopped/ destroyed dead universe so their would need no rehash to brungnkup back other than some odd twist of fate that what he did in infestation didn't kill him
