A lot of people have noticed the lack of guns in the Autobot ranks. We have axes, stingers, hammers, wrecking balls and giant flaming sword, but no guns. But I noticed so far we've met a maintenance crew, animatronic dinosaurs and garbage trucks brought to life, the possibly very ceremonial elite guard, and one intelligence bot, but no soldiers. And we know autobots do have energy weapons based off the Ark's cannon. So, it's possible that ordinary soilders are equipped with more traditional TF weapons, it's just that we haven't met them yet.
That's what I've been saying. Remember the flashbacks of Ratchet's past with all the laser sounds and explosions? I'm thinking the regular soldiers have blasters or energy weapons in their bodies like Decepticons, whereas the specialty guys have custom weapons for specific purposes.
Or because it's a children's show, they can't have guns anymore. That's the case with a lot of cartoons.
Ultra Magnus definitely has guns and rocket launchers installed in his body on various places - just look at the toy's picture... Also there'll be another Autobot who's pretty much armed to the teeth with cannons, rockets, lasers, what you want... But revealing who he is would be a spoiler (it has already been revealed in other spoiler-threads).
So Megatron, Starscream, Blitzwing, Lugnut, Ultra Magnus and (spoiler) Omega Supreme don't exist to you?
Then why do the decepticons have guns? And I know other Cartoon network shows, like Ben 10 and LOSH, have portrayed the heroes using guns or energy weapons. You're probably right in that CN wants the autobots to have more 'heroic' weaponry, but I wouldn't be surprised to meet at least one Autobot with military weapons (hopefully Warpath, he'd be perfect in that role.)
That seems to bee a case of a toy only weapon/feature. Like Lazerbeak. Although I guess his guns could be in a similar position as Lazerbeak and Oil slick and has a possibility of showing up in season 3 and onward. So far I think Jazz is the only Autobot that hasn't displayed some kind of mid-long range weapon. Sentinel at least can throw his shield.
We don't know that for certain. He will most likely return and since the toy has a show-accurate mode unlike Leader Bulkhead it's safe to say he could bust those out at any time. Jazz can throw his weapons aswell. Also, BB and Ratchet don't have projectile weapons. And that's another thing, those two can combine their blasts to form an EMP that is... not quite what an EMP is usually regarded as. More like a BLOW-EVERYTHING-UP blast as shown on Starscream.
Still, the last two count and it's obvious by the 'Cons taht the fact it's a children's show doesn't have any solid impact on the guns issue. (though obviously the violence of the guns does matter, since you won't see anybody getting their head's blown to smitherines and gushing robo-blood)
well, they're a repair crew, and the one who was actually in a war was a medic, the Elite guard have been trained in alternative methods of combat and during a time of peace for the most part. That said I'm pretty sure there must be autobots with guns of some sort out there as we may or may not find out in future episodes. well, Ratchet used to have an EMP generator.
Well maybe it's okay for bad guys to have guns, but not good guys. Makes kids think guns are bad, that kind of thing. It teaches them to use axes and maces instead.
I love this post. Can't have one without the other. Which is still not a projectile weapon since an EMP blast is an Electro-Magnetic Pulse and not a projectile. When he picks it off his arm and chucks it at someone, then it's a projectile.
The main Autobot cast doesn't have weapons because they're not soldiers. What they have done so far is weaponize the various tools they are equipped with. The only modest exception is Prowl, but that's because he's got his weird ninja fetish.
Excluding the fetish part (he's a ninja, not a guy with a ninja fetish. That would imply that he's hot for ninja-chicks) I completely agree.
I get ya on Magnus and the other guy counting, too, Split - my bad. Although I'm still find myself wondering if Magnus will even use his guns in the series. Just a feeling. The worst that appears to have happened to anyone in Animated was Prime dying momentarily in 'Transform and Roll Out', Lug and Blitz getting blown to pieces in 'Lost and Found' and Wreck-Gar experiencing the same in 'Garbage In, Garbage Out'. Gotta wonder if we'll ever get a Transformers series featuring the same degree of brutality as the '86 movie.
