That would be 1984 (at least as a first release as a Hasbro "Transformers" product). Aside from minor variations, the other Optimus Primes released during the G1 run would be Powermaster Prime, around 1988, and Action Master Prime, out around 1990.

If they did, that might be the original Diaclone release. Do you have one or just seen one?

The only thing from '82 could be a Diaclone version of OP.

Think they did, as the Diaclone "Battle Convoy", give or take. Same basic toy, but from a conceptual standpoint, that was "Diaclone" (piloted mecha) instead of "Transformers", for whatever worth that is.

Markings like "1980, 1982" appear on several of the original Transformers released in '84 and '85. I'm fairly certain they're just dates left on the mold from the original Diaclone versions.

Regardless, 1984 was the first year for Transformers and therefore Prime.

Really? I thought that Microman as a line didn't come out till 75 or 76? Cause they had their 30th anniversary either last year or year before. Which TFs is it on?

No way it says 1963. In '63, there were only pretty much wind up tin robot toys on the market - the giant robot craze was really getting under way with Gigantor, which debuted that year. The Microman line started in 1974, which is the earliest datestamp you'll find on a G1 Transformer (for example, Megatron).

Out of all of the lines that went into creating the Transformers, the Diaclone toys are from 1980, the Microman Microchange toys are from 1983 and 1984, the Dorvack toys are from 1983, the Beetras toys are from 1984, the Macross toys are from 1983, the Gunborg figure is from 1982 (?), and the Super Change Robo Mechabot-1 is from 1983 (?).
