It matters to some people, apparently.

Yeah, but then again people living in 2 BC didn't know it was 2 BC. Like you wouldn't find a coin that said 300BC because people living in BC didn't know it was BC.

Oh please, master of referencing techniques, tell us more about proper citation methods and how Wikipedia is an inappropriate material in this context.

It's a contradictory source in this case though. Some pages say it's one way, some say it's the other.

I'm not saying it's always a bad source, but in this case, it's not great because it has no clear position in this case.

Just wait until next year when we have the exact same thread on 1/1/11 and everyone is on the opposite side of the argument.

And where did I reference Wikipedia? Aside from a quote I pulled off of your own post.

I won't defend the complete validity of a Wikipedia article, but being user-run doesn't discredit it. Information posted still has to go through validation, and it's very own set of sources are given at the bottom of each article.

It's not 100% infallibly correct, but it's far from being wrong.
Yes, I'm aware the Gregorian calendar was created in the 16th Century. Your post still says nothing whatsoever about what I'm talking about.

So wait, according to your logic...the 90's ran from 1991 to 2000? And that 1990 was a part of the 80's?:peoples:

It has been 10 years since Y2k. I figure that is a good enough measure for me.

No, I'm not arguing numeric figures. I'm talking about chronological figures. The 90's are the 90's. But that's not a chronological decade in the sense of defining "decades" as beginning with the very first one- 1 AD to 10 AD.

The end of the first year of a decade is ---1 in my opinion. So therefore I believe the new decade has started. If you have 100 pennies you have 1 dollar. You can't have a dollar unless you have a hundred pennies. So when the clock rang in 2010 that marked the end of ten years. So three hundred and sixty five days from now will be a year. And that will be 2011. The end of the first year of the next decade.

Thats a great way to look at it! :thumb

However, OP, go ahead with your wiki technicalities and start your thread this time next year, but I have a feeling it might end up exactly like this one has so far.
