    Do you eat it?

    YouTube - Abalone

I'm really curious about this now, do you it eat while it's still alive? Or cook it til it's dead? Do you feel it squirm as it goes down your throat? :lol  I just learned what abalone is. Just wondering if anyone ever tried it.

Never eaten it, as its expensive as hell.

You'd probably prepare it much like scallops or mussels or other clam-like foods. You probably could eat it raw, but that might not be a great idea. I imagine it would probably be steamed, boiled, or sauted.

There's an iron chef abalone battle, watch that and see what they do.

It seems mean to cook something before killing it. I don't eat seafood so that looks entirely unappetizing.

Really no taste? Maybe when people are angry enough to kill someone they go have abalone instead. You know stab it to death with a fork. Good for the soul.

Never tried it. Would love to serve it to a bunch of peopele on acid.
Watch em freak out at first, then start eating their food in front of them.
Then puke seahorses all over them just for kicks and leave.

    Ebay:
I like a variety of seafood, but some things in the ocean i personally consider verboten.
caviar, fish roe in general, sea cucumber, and i'd have to say abalone.

but i have to say my affinity for seafood can be attributed to childhood events.
(large social gatherings where we boiled several pots' worth of shrimp, things like that.)
i'd have to have a lot of friends jump in with me to buy and try that, lol.

As far as large, edible, ocean-dwelling snails go, the abalone is by far the coolest.
