I had a small debate with some friends a couple of day ago.

    Goes like this:

You´re in your home, when all of a sudden an alien visitor comes to you with the following proposal. Leave with him and become a galactic hero, (kind of like Flash Gordon, Luke Skywalker, that sort of thing). You will be trained by some of the universe´s greatest warriors, travel the stars and carve your legacy among other worlds. The bad part? You can´t return home, never. You will leave all of your friends, home and family behind. There´s also the chance you might die battling some evil in some unknowed world. You can decline the offer and the alien will erase the visit from your memory.

    Would you accept?

My awsner would be yes. Leave this ball of dirt and carve my legacy in the stars? Damm right. If and when mankind leaves the Earth, hopefully, my name will be remenbered by others. And if I go down well....

Be a hero, leave a legacy, leave a bigass crater when they finally take me down.

Either way, I would glady leave it all behind if I had that chance. Would you?

sounds like the MiB proposal. and i think the answer comes down to who you are- me, i am 90 plus percent lazy, out of shape and dying to date a certain girl i know, so i am not sure i would say yes- but personally, i think that where i am in life, i would reconsider that.
as long as i get to be Kirk and get the green babes, i think that i might sign up.
just to find elvis would be a plus.

As painful as it would be to leave everything I know behind, I'm far too curious to pass up such an offer so I'd have to go.

Nope, I like life here and have pretty strong family ties. And I am not sure I would want to enlist in a galactic army... Exploring is great, but going to fight, nah.

I got things to do and people to save here already. And I gives a damn about my name being remembered.

Plus, I'm already a war hero. I'd rather cash that in to sleep with human strippers than weird tentacled ones. :D

EDIT: Y'know, the phrase "war hero" maybe sounds serious on the internets. Just to clarify, IT'S NOT.

Tempting, but a very resound NO... I've got too many attachments, and too many people I care about to just up and go.

Besides, all the training in the world wouldn't help you if you found yourself on the receiving end of a death ray! :p

If it gave me an opportunity to see the galaxy, I'd do it in one hot minute. Yes all the way.

If I wasn't married, I'd say yes. But since I don't want to abandon my wife, no. I'd stay here.

Nope, I'd stay here on our tiny planet called "earth"  Nice place, (mostly) friendly people, TFs... everything you need. MAYBE the aliens could convince me to go with them after a small talk while having a cup of tea, but ONLY if they allow me to take my TFs with me :D

If my wife and/or kids would end up being hurt or killed (invasion) then yes. If not then no, besides I have a nice steak waiting for me to grill when the weather turns nicer.

If the alien was Optimus Prime, I'd do it without question.

If they gave me a mecha, a transformable one,-Macross VF-19 like- and maybe take a replica of all I had. then I would, I figure knowing outer space, adventure and probably wielding a sword, and a chance to leave a mark in the universe, and going down spectacularly sounds like the thing I would do.

granted odds are I wouldnt due the sheer idea of me liking it here. if I could return, then hell yes I would be .

To fly between the stars and meet ancient alien races? Hells Yes. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow so you can't figure you'd live longer if you stay'd home. And who's to say that there wouldn't be any girls. You know, if the alien was able to speak to you then it knows a lot about humans already. Who's to say that they couldn't whip you up a girl or that another species would'nt be compatable to us.

Yeah a chance to be Kirk or Skywalker... why not.

    Would there be probing?

    Either way, I'd stay put.
