In the series, Prime says the war of Cybertronians has only been going on for centuries instead of millennia (like other TF series claim). I, for one, welcome that change, that these characters aren't MILLIONS of years old, but rather hundreds.

Unfortunately, Megatron contradicted this by saying he's been fighting with Optimus for millennia. Thoughts? Comments? Rebuttals?

Sorry, I unintentionally hit "post thread" way too quickly.

    Well.

Many centuries eventually form a millenia!

the war obvioulsy didn't stop when cybertron was extinguised.. and no solid time frame was yet given how long ago the planet died.

Just saw the episodes, and I think that Megs and Prime fought on the same side for a while (millennia?) and then Megs went over to the Decepticon side / created the Decepticon side from the remnants of whoever they were fighting, and continued to fight over centuries...

    100% speculation

    I haz it.

Whether that number has been reached or not, is under speculation. The only certainty is that Optimus has said the war is centuries old, while Megatron is aware of Optimus' resilience over thousands of years.

And? OP still said the WAR was only centures, anyway.

I didn't even consider that, good call.

dangnabbit, now I have to watch that scene again lol
or not because someone else is using the DVR..
will see if its on youtube.

I was trying to say what slain said, just guess my sarcasm skills need work lol. at 8:47 in the second half of the episode they start the conversation
I listened to the clip again and Prime gave no solid indication the war started on cybertron, or ended on cybertron only that centuries of it went on on cybertron. but I won't go on.. :lol

    YouTube - Transformers Prime - Darkness Rising - part 1 - (part 2)

That bit also supports Slain's speculation that Optimus and Megatron did indeed fight side-by-side once, before ideals were skewed.

Uh, doesn't millenia actually mean 1,000 years?

It seems to fit fine with me.

depends on the context of the sentence, a millenium is 1000 years, millenia can also be used as an indeterminate amount of millenniums..

That's like calling a mother who says her baby is 12 weeks old rather than 3 months a liar.

actually; he says for a millennia, optimus prime and megatron, have been battling *either with each other, or against each other, that is not clear*

so it could be either, they could of just been battling for 1000 years, and yet STILL be millions of years old...?

I guess I prefer millenia to millions of years, as, well... I don't know how to articulate it, but it just seems more believable (if that word can ever apply to a series about giant transforming alien robots).

yeah that's what I was thinking. this sounds like the most accurate fan assumption based off the 2 episodes we've seen thus far.
