My recommendation if you REALLY want to make a clean break with collecting is the follows: Get everything ready to sell. Figure out which pieces you want to sell individually (Predaking, for instance) and which you want to lot-sell. Take pictures of them for posting on eBay, even if you never end up doing so, so that you don't have to dig them out. Package them up as if you were going to ship them the next day, label the boxes and put them AWAY. This WILL take a long time, and it'll have a high chance of raising feelings of regret, but if you can get through this part, then you've already done the hardest part. This is the part where you say 'goodbye' to your collection. Take some time with it, remember the good memories... maybe even write them down. Keep in mind they're all going to go to good homes. For the special items maybe include any stories you have related to them in the package. Once you've got them all packed up, do NOT reopen them unless absolutely necessary. Keep an inventory with the pics in case someone wants to know what you have. Set up a premade desc to go with the pics, suitable for posting here or on eBay. Start going around and selling the items... mix things up, a few big ticket items with a few lots. Don't try and dump it all at once... packing everything up was your 'dumping' phase. Take your time, get good prices, and don't undercut. The items that aren't worth anything take to the local Salvation Army or Thirft Store and donate, or sell to comic store guy. Cut off trolling Transformer and other collector sites, including this one, except to post more sales and check your auctions. Hotlink the sellers forums if possible to bypass all the news on the front page. This is only temptation, and will just make things harder. If there are friends you'd like to keep from the community, ask for their IM names or e-mails. And finally, if at any point you start to second-guess your decision... stop. Leave the TF's packed up, out of sight and out of mind. Stop coming to the collectors boards, and give yourself a month or two. If, after two months or so away you still would like to continue collecting, then come back and unpack your TF's, perhaps selecting the ones you really want to keep. If you feel reaffirmed in your decision to leave, resume selling the pieces off. I hope that helps a little. It's just my two cents.
