So both star wars and gi joe have had vintage collection packaging at one point in the past few years so why not transformers? It would be the next generation of classics and we could get figures like trailbreaker, skids, hoist, and a good number of minibots. So yeah just and idea

Well, the problem is that many of the "vintage" TF's were made with die-cast metal, even the re-issues, and die-cast metal is expensive to produce. Hence, why many G1 re-issues are exclusives.

Star Wars and G.I. Joe don't have this problem because their figures were and always will be mostly just plastic, plus each of them have reasons why they could get away with vintage packaging (Star Wars figure collectors buy the CRAP out of those things because there are so many of them, especially Clone trooper variants, and G.I. Joe is more or less only getting by with collector market stuff these days from what I can tell due to Renegades getting shafted and the second movie being delayed as a result of Battleship's failure)

well the "vintage" part would just be the packaging, everything else would be modern just like gi joe the 25th anniversary.

If you're just referring to the vintage packaging and not the figures themselves, then motherfucking yeah that'd be cool!

Think how cool a Classics styled figure would look in a retro package? It blows your mind doesn't it?!

    Ah, my bad then.

Well, G2 FoC Bruticus comes in a G2 style package, and I do admit it looks pretty awesome (it's literally so awesome it's blinding!).

But due to current packaging and size styles, beyond mini-bots this would only work for Voyagers and up, since deluxes are on cards so they can hang on pegs, while boxes would just clutter everything up.

Something like this....not completely vintage, but an updated vintage.

Absolutely, that's the problem. I think the only realistic way we'd get vintage packaging is another exclusive like the G2 Bruticus.

Okay ... where do I get one?

I could kill for a line like that, single language vintage style packaging, techspecs, decoders, robot points the works.

I'm surprised no bright spark at Hasbro hasn't already twigged this, what with SW and GIJoes already 'vintaged' I'm surprised they haven't given this treatment to one of their biggest lines...

    Hrm.

    I just want boxes.
Rectangular, re-sealable boxes with functional inserts where you don't have to destroy the packaging to get into it.

Incldued those and I have a decorder in the box as well. Back panel art was changed since it was an update.

This was custom done by a good friend on the forum. He also made all my WST G1 syle boxes.

I'd love to have that as well, but I think retailers would have a problem displaying this on shelves. These days, small figures almost always require them to be hung and not put together on shelves.

We get the red computer matrix criss cross referenced every now and then.

Check out the new Generations cards that even made use of a graph for the tech spec and the red stuff on the front is sharp and retro.

    I like it.

Can't see it happening. The reason for the sealed clamshells was security. makes it harder to steal. Yeah it's got holes in that line of logic but that's how a lot of companies see it for smaller figures. Would be cool though.

I understand it would be expensive to do so, but a retro packaged line like this for the club might be the best option. However, would you only want a select few figures in retro packaging? Nope, so a total rerelease of every classics figure in retro packaging for the club would have to happen. :)  In this way people could pick up figures that they missed out on the first time around (for what would probably be the same price as current secondary prices). Just a thought. Of course you'd never get a Megatron out of the deal, so...

There was a series of reissues sold a few years ago that were about as vintage as you can get. They sold poorly.

I'd love retro-G1 packaging...but I wouldn't want to throw it away so I'd rather them not do it :lol
