Skewed and Reviewed has posted an interview with Mark Ryan, who voiced Bumblebee in the movie and also acted as the onset voice of all of the Transformers during filming. At the end of the article, Mark provides information regarding some extras to the DVD release of the recently released Transformers movie as well as hinting at a prequel that will set up the second film.

    Zomg.

I'm guessing an animated straight to dvd prequel to be released before the 2nd film hits.

Shame his Bumblebee voice sounded kinda crummy - although it is hard to judge on 2 lines.

From the way he said it in the interview, I'm guessing the prequel is part of the DVD release for the first movie. Still though, we have no proof that is what he meant. We may very well get some straight-to-DVD prequel

I wonder if the animated prequel will be computer animated or traditional animation. Either way, it should be good.

Perhaps the DVD has a trailer / teaser for the prequel?

Van Helsing, Chronicles of Riddick, and Hellboy all had short (<one hour) straight-to-DVD animated prequels. I'm betting that's exactly what this is--the DVD will have a preview, but it'll be it's own release. Just a quick, low-budget animated film that'll cash in on the fans.

AS long as it is animated and not pictures of an IDW comic with voice over.

A prequel that sets up the second film? I'm not too sure that makes sense. The second film doesn't even have writers or a director attached to it yet. More likely it's a prequel to the first movie that animates or fills out the details before the first movie, like the IDW commic.
