How would you feel if they made a Transformers fighting game? What kind of style would it be in? What would the character's super-moves be? How would they work Transformation into the game?

    Like the Robo-Sock'em set?
Or like that electric foot-ball game set, but instead of football players there'ed be Transformers instead?

If it was a arena based fighting game (like Gotcha Force/Gundam Vs Gundam) then it could work. But as a Street Fighter style game? Pass.

    I wouldnt buy it.

Prime transformers into a truck and runs over his opponent again and again and again.

Seems like it would get old really fast.

A fighting game really isn't suited for the transformers media I don't think, I like how the movie games and WFC worked out the game play, but a straight up SF style game, couldn't work well at all

A Tekken style G1 game would be good. Examples to follow:

Soundwave's super moves would involve setting his tapes on his opponents.

Ultra Magnus gets to combine with his trailer.

Motormaster could summon the other Stunticons and combine into Menasor for a limited time.

Pretenders could double team their opponent. Catilla would be nice.

Blurr could fight Matrix style for his super moves while still being very quick and agile in his 'normal' movement.

Galvatron transforms to cannon or shrinks to his hand gun mode getting Cyclonus to catch him.

Machtackle seperates into Mach and Tackle, double teaming their opponents.

Skywarp can teleport in various super moves.

I'm sure Headmasters and Targetmasters would be cool. Never liked Skyfall but I'd love to see him shoot someone then have Top Heavy transform to rhino mode and finish them off. Top Heavy is the coolest sidekick ever.

I just want to use Ironhide to dish out some serious pain.

Smokescreen would use various tricks such as billowing smoke from is exhaust or throwing little spikes underfoot as an opponent approaches. Oilslicks too.

Any TF with an animal mode would be fun. Snarl and Catilla come to mind.

Everyone should be able to transform at any time.

Double Dealer or Counterpunch can momentarily confuse an opponent by switching to the same allegience, then striking. This would mean they default as the opposing faction to whomever they fight.

    Windcharger uses his magnetic powers.

    Trailbreaker uses his forcefield.

Thundercracker summons Reflector whose flash disorients the opponent and Thundercracker appears in his Actionmaster colours while the effect lasts.

Ideally, the format would need to be like Super Smash Bros. That kind of style could work in the right hands.

Also, there was a GBC Beast Wars Second game. Though it was far from impressive.

In fairness though I hold to my belief that the two best formats for Transformers games are shooters and strategy RPGs. I'm just waiting for a real Transformers SRPG to prove me right on that front, but Super Robot Wars has shown me that it works.

It will be hard to ever surpass the Playstation Armada game. Not a fighting game but just a fantastic computer game in it's own right. Even 7 years on, I still love it. I did enjoy WFC and the Movie games though. Just so much variety in the PS2 game and those wonderful cut scenes, especially the interogation of Starscream. Love the cinematic music in that scene.

    There is already a few.

In 1999 we had "Duel Fighting Transformers Beast Wars : Beast Warriors' strongest battle" for the Game Boy Advance in Japan.

In 2000 we got Beast Wars Transmetals for both N64 and PSX

In 2003 we had DreamMix TV World Fighters for PS2 and Gamecube in Japan.

Not to mention all the custom stuff by fans via Mugen China.

Dreammix TV Fighters was a smash bros. style game, and while it was pretty good in terms of adapting that style, the "transforming" aspect of the two TF characters never really shined through as anything more than another special move, though it was a core to Megatron's fighting style more than Prime's. The very limited moveset also made it difficult to really bring out the best in the character.

A TF Smash Bros. game would really hinge on how transforming was made effective and essential, yet still fun to use for each character. After that, the biggest problem I could see would be balancing each of the characters.

I'd be all over a shooter like Quake 3 feat. Transformers.

I would like versions of G1 and movieverse in Tekken style, you know bots beating each other up, or even fighting themselves. :)

TFs would be better suited to a tactics RTS game.

This guy has the right idea! The thing about fighting games is though, the more vast the selection of characters, the more replay value it has. With Transformers, there are so many to draw from! So much potential for DLC! If you buy a Transformers toy, it could come with a code to unlock a character in the game!

Characters I'd like to see are any swordsman like Drift and Bludgeon.

    I would like that.

Using all characters from either Movieverse, Animated, or Prime.

But then again, just imagin what they had to pay for the voice actors.

That was a tabletop strategy game, but yeah, another example of a TF game that kind of missed it's mark, even if the concept was cool.

Super smash bros-esque gameplay engine with more realistic graphics and some transforming elements...
I'd buy the hell out of it,.
