Well, as many may have noticed I was absent from the boards for a few days, and let me tell you, they were some of the worst days of my life. So where I work we ork 4 10 hour days, but our contract allows us to go 10.7 (each 6 minutes is a point, so if I get off at 4am, 10.7 is 4:47am). Friday was a night like the rest, we were behind so they called 10.7. at around 4:15am I went to streach my back out and when I stood back up my world changed. I had a ringing in my ear, my vision was doubled I lost total control of my left arm and leg, got dizzy and threw up a bit. Was immediatly sent to the hospital where I was for the last 5 days. I'm 33 years old and I had a mild stroke. It is still one of the scariest things I have ever been through and am still a little shaken by it. Was released earlier today and told not to go back to work for 8 weeks or so. It turns out I have a small hole in my heart, and when I bent over it allowed blood to flow the wrong way. It's really hard for me to type this as my left hand is still a little weak but I just had to get it out there. I'm actually lucky I got off as well as I did, I can walk pretty well and no slurred speach, my vision is still ok and have strength in my arm. Now I just need to rehabilitate and get back to 100%. Thanks for reading, hopefully I will be back in the swing of things around here soon.

Welcome back, d00d. Get some rest.

Getting that hole repaired probably wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Welcome back and good to hear that you are getting better. A hole in the heart is serious, but manageable. Can yours be surgically repaired? Depending on the location some can and some can't. Either way, you should avoid physically demanding jobs from now on and definitely take it real easy during these 8 weeks.

Ouch D: Take it easy, and let's hear what the docs say about repairing that hole. It's great that you got away fine, so just be careful from now on... D:

Funny thing is, the doctors told me I am fine and just need to get back to 100%. I was even surprised when they told me I could drive when I felt comfortable, since I didn't pass out at the time. Thanks all for the support.

Damn. I hope your fully recover and all, but I'm actually kinda glad I read this thread now. See, my Dad is currently in the hospital for a minor stroke as well, and from what my Mom told me this morning, it sounds like it was caused by the same thing. Since you seem to be doing all right considierng, it gives me a lot of hope my Dad will be up and about soon too. :)

Can the doctors perform any surgeries to prevent it from happening again?
