I just noticed that at the end of RoTF, you can see that Optimus Prime still has some of Jetfire's parts on him, and he looks visibly, well, beefier. This is true even in the shots on the aircraft carrier. Look at the fuel tanks on his back. Before they were flush with his back, now the whole assembly they were resting on is angled outward slightly, like wings.

So will this (slightly) new body translate to a (slightly) new alt mode in TF3? Or will they just say "He got repaired"?

I doubt they will change his design. A few retouches possibly but not a makeover. Plus Optimus needs to be truck. It's one of those things like gravity. It's like that and that's the way it is.

I'm sure Hasbro would like him to get a new alt mode to sell toys, but story wise, I'd rather him not, unless semi's change drastically in the next year or so.

Well yeah, he'll still be a truck, I'm just wondering if it will be the same truck from the first two movies.

Well, at the very end he looks back to his old Jetfire-free self. Now unless Hasbro wants to sell a new mold, I doubt he'll get a new form.

I think that the angle on his back is just from his shoulders being pushed back some. I don't think it's got anything to do with him being beefier per say. But I have been wrong before.

I hope not. I like Prime the way he is.

I think he should stay the same. Like others have mentioned Hasbro would love to have a new Alt mode for toy sales, but it's more realistic that he stays with his current Alt mode IMO.

The panels on his back pull back like that when he moves his shoulders back. Lol Michael Bay wouldn't allow for optimus to change alt modes. Bay likes Optimus as is.

I didn't notice anything significant in change as far as he goes at the end of RotF, but as to the topic's question? I sure as hell hope so. Him and Bee, at least. Seriously. There needs to be some upgrading, some new alt modes.

Maybe not a new alt mode altogether, but probably a modified robot mode.

Wont happen but would be nice if they drop the whole truck idea and go with something else. Perhaps some type of jet.

But it will probably wont change at all.

The only way I can see Prime's altmode changed is if Peterbilt Motors suddenly isn't cool with Bay and Co. using their product.

    Highly unlikely, though.

I'm actually hoping, what with an apparent tendency to stay with the same semi & the fact they've introduced heavy duty combining, that we'll see a sort of Bayformers Powermaster Prime come the third installment.

Hasbro will be stupid to change his alt mode. Optimus is truck why can't you accept that? If you need another Optimus looking robot with another alt mode they can always create it.

I don't think he's got any Jetfire parts on him at the tail end when he's on the aircraft carrier. Either way, I doubt he'll change at all - except he'll probably get more weapons to play with, and MAYBE they'll give him a trailer for a scene or two.

Yeah, I've had this crazy idea where he reconfigures Jetfire's parts into a trailer, which then becomes a slightly different looking Power-Up Prime. But then again, doing that to a dead ally's body seems kinda gruesome :p

Still, Powermaster Prime would be nice.

No. Save new alt. modes for new characters. Prime (and Bumblebee) are too recognizable with the current vehicle modes and robot designs, at least where the movies are concerned. Just leave it and save a new badass truck or car or something for Ultra Magnus or Trailbreaker or Hot Rod or some other character.

Don't fix what isn't broken (Prime).
