Spoiler alert: There's no way Thor isn't getting his arm back. I loved that original Ragnarok Saga back when I was a kid. I wonder if that's been collected anywhere or if I'd have to get the individual issues somewhere.
Yeah that's true, but since this is still under Aaron's run, I'm guessing he's not throwing that away just yet by introducing yet another future Thor with an arm back and missing an eye on the other side.
Say Wot.. I just read the article about some new characters coming in thor Comics but there was no hint of this.
The Third Thor has made his debut. Spoiler Volstagg took the hammer. He tried to save some children and failed, and so he suffered shellshock and needs to kill enemies to make his nightmare end. The story is actually really sad. And it's not going to end well. This is some serious Ragnarok going on. He is going to kick serious ass.
I feel like someone should make a meme with oprah giving everyone a hammer. You get a hammer and YOU get a hammer and YOU get a hammer....
So, can anyone explain me what's happening to Jane Foster now and if/when she stops being a Thor? I've stopped following Marvel some time ago... Don't know what's happening with the character.
Giving the title of the current arc is “Death of the Mighty Thor”, it seems her cancer is finally going to kill her.
How far back do you need to go? Since Secret Wars ended? Original Sin? God Bomb? I believe "what's going on" is a two-pronged story. At its base level, this is Aaron giving a bombastic send-off to one of Thor's most enduring supporting characters. On a deeper level, the story is about humanity and what's so special about gods in the Marvel Universe. When Nick Fury told Thor that Spoiler "Gorr was right," or that the gods are undeserving of the worship they receive from mortals, Thor dropped his hammer, realizing that he agreed with the sentiment. Spoiler The stories since then have shown audiences why he believes that, with both Thors facing off with gods or god-like beings who are petulant (the Collector), disinterested in their charges beyond a source of prayer (the Shiar pantheon), utter assholes (Cul and Odin having returned to Asgard, an ongoing plot) and truly sadistic (the unholy alliance of Hela and Thanos that looks to be the driving force of the next arc). Making Jane the new Thor allowed Aaron to make interesting commentary on the gods, along with War Thor, Odinson, and the arrival of Spoiler Mangog in #701.
No, I know all of this. I want to know what they're going to do with Jane after actual Thor gets his hammer back.
Like I said before, Jane is apparently to going to die at of the current arc. As for Thor, he’s going to get a new golden hammer.
The story is called "Death of the Mighty Thor," and Jane has said a few times that she's not sure how many more times she can turn into Thor before it kills her. I don't know if the golden hammer Odinson gets is Mijolnir or not but if it isn't then Mijolnir might go with her. The new Thor outfit has lots more good than usual (including his severed arm), and the inclusion of Thanos makes me wonder if he's going to be melting down a certain glove.
I'm thinking she (not sure if she can) will stay as Thor. Jane will "die" and she'll continue on as Thor. No more switching.
The other option of course is that with Thor now being called Odinson, and Jane's alter ego being Thor, it's quite possible that they'll kill off Jane's alter ego Thor instead, with her no longer being able to turn into Thor.
One of them will die in the next three issues. Jane will have to remain Thor forever if she transforms, or she can leave the hammer and return to being Jane for as long as it takes to beat her cancer, potentially leaving the entity inside Mijolnir without a conduit.
