Until I decided to sell off a good chunk of my collection, I always had something to buy. Always. Even more than I could handle. But now, I have that money, I don't even know on what to spend it. Everyday I search Ebay for new stuff that I could buy and I can't find anything. That sucks! If I finally find something interesting, I hesitate and end up not buying it. Should I buy G1 Shockwave? Bah... Should I buy G1 Jetfire? Bah... Should I buy G1 Sixshot? Bah... Actually, my want list is pretty short right now, and it's all expensive stuff :

    -SOC GX-13 Dancougar
    -SOC GX-31 Voltes V
    -SOC GX-37 King Joe
-SOC GX-38 Iron Gear (not released yet)
    -Yamato SV-51 (not released yet)
-CMS Great Baan Gaan (not released yet)
-CMS Gaofighgar (with Goldymarg and pliers maybe?)
    -Masterpiece Voltron
-DLX '08 Bumblebee (not released yet)
    -DLX Payload (not released yet)
    -FAB Blackout (not released yet)
    -FAB Bumblebee (not released yet)
    -FAB Barricade (not released yet)
    -Legend Blackout (not released yet)
    -Ultimate Bumblebee (not released yet)

    On the maybe list :

    -original SDF-1
    -original green Cyclone
    -original green Alpha

And I really had a lot of money :

    -G1 Overlord
    -G1 Liokaiser
    -original Leopaldon
    -original Ideon
    -original Voltes V
    -original Daimos

So, I'm mostly after unreleased stuff or super expensive figures! Dammit.

Hold out and finish the movie stuff. Only a week or so to go until it's out. The rest of the stuff is out there and will be out there for a while.

When I get the wants really bad I put up more stuff for sale... and if that doesn't work I just cry. Or buy really cheap versions of the expensive guys!

If you ever have too much money you could always just buy some mib/misb G1 stuff, it drains the wallet pretty effectively and is pretty cool.

    G1 Jetfire is pretty cool...

I'd go for the SDF-1, personally. I've been meaning to get one of those for a long time but every time I have money to throw at one there seems to be yet another "shiny new" toy that just got released that I must have.

Dude, I suggest you go slow or think carefully what you want to buy because seriously, our hobby is truly never ending. Most of the earlier purchases were soley on impulse...and too late do I realise that I can do without 60% of my collection...don't make the mistake I did.

    wow, sucks to be you.

    -.-'

in this situation, get something you really wanna get, not based on the money you have to spend.

Having the Wave version, I'm not entirely sure I really need the original, and if I want the original, I'm starting to think it might be better for me to get the Japanese version with all the spring-loaded stuff and missiles... Maybe I'll just wait for a SOC version. :)

I know... I prefer not to think about all the precious dollars wasted on crappy BW, Armada, Energon, Cybertron and Classics figures... That's why I try hard to focus my collection on the better pieces. I kinda did a re-focus on my collection last year, when I decided to mostly collect Prime, Meg and Starcream figures... until I realized several Prime, Meg and Starscream were useless to me. Now, I only wanna get movie figures (my new G1) and high-end stuff from various transforming lines. Right now, I'm in my Gundam phase and I feel like buying all the missing Zetas from my collection. But...

    You tell me! :D

Problem is, what I really want costs more than what I have to spend. :p

Fortunately, my collecting moods are mercurial so by the time I run out of toys I'm interested in collecting, I'm usually off them anyway so it's off to collect DVDs, or models, or comics. By the time the cycle comes back, there's something new out.

That SOC Iron Gear looks pretty neat. Bigger than Ideon, too. With the size escalation the SOCs are going through (Gunbuster, Dancouga, Ideon, Iron Gear), one wonders when they'll decide that enough is enough :p

Is he really taller? I think the prototype was standing on clear plastic blocks in that photo with Ideon, making him look way taller than he really is.

Hmm. I dunno. I suppose it might be that he isn't. How tall is the Ideon? I think I read that Iron Gear was somewhere in the vicinity of 28cm tall (45cm long in ship mode, though, hope you have room!)

    <looks at the photo>

You're right, it's on a clear block. That sort of invalidates everything I said, doesn't it? :p

Aaaaanyway. Somehow, someway, there'll always be some way to lose money, I've found. It's best not to worry too much about it.

Can't speak for the unreleased stuff... but my vote is for SOC Dancougar. I love it!

I mean, sure he's huge, heavy, maybe a bit loose in places, and has a wobbly head... but he's an extremely poseable monster chunk of very cool-looking metal robot, with 4 transforming robots comprised and a huge-ass sword.

One of those toys that after spending a wad of cash on, I was still thrilled with once I took him out of the package and messed around with him. I didn't get that "but why did I need to own one of these again?" voices, because that voice was too busy going "Wow, cool!" :)

I think the key to finally focusing on my collection is what were my fave characters from my past.

For me, its G1, Gundam and comic book heros. I'm done with G1 unless the reissues hit the stores again, Gundam...almost there...just a few more updates in MG kits and MSIA and I'm done...same with comic book heros - I'm just waiting for Black Bolt and maybe the upcoming new Bats and Supes from Direct Direct.

You need to find what drives your collection, dude. If its SOC, then stick to SOC. By doing this, you can really budget and save for a rainy day! :)

I'm in the same boat, my want list is down to the heavy hitters: G1 Jetfire, Shockwave, & the Dinobots.
